I was at that game! High up in the 500's. One of my fave sports memories and I'm happy I get to relive it for a few minutes.

Came here after baggio hit for the cycle. Honestly what were the chances of Kelly gruber being there when Jeff Frye did it. One of my favorite blue jay moments during this era. This and delgados 4 home run night

I was at this game. A buddy and me did a baseball road trip, and this was one of the games we saw. When Frye trotted back to first base, my buddy screamed, “That is bullshit!!! There will be an asterisk in the record books saying he could have made second base”.

And just like Gruber did, he pulled up lame on the single. They both could have easily made those doubles.

First "hit" was an error. Second "hit" was an error. Third one barely eeks over the wall and barely stays fair because his hurried, rushed bat motion gives no lift, power, or control and he doesn't follow through. Last hit again sprays off the bat out of control to the opposite field because he's out ahead of it, flat footed. All this shows is that Jeff could have been great if he'd been coached, if he were a prospect today he wouldn't make the minors with that swing.

kzbin.infoEuORpRqcvAs?si=IGKveGHjqGRavK1O On this one: I guess Jeff did swing up and on plane loaded on his back leg and in the hitting window for a long time. No pushy swing on that day of the cycle-though tbh the right fielder misplayed the turf hop on his triple)

Things Jeff Frye has done that you have not done and will never do: -Play in the MLB for ~10 years -Make over $9,000,000 playing a child's game -Hit 36 doubles and bat over .300 for the Red Sox -Posted a career +WAR -Hit for the cycle Not bad for a dude drafted in the 30th round, out of Southeastern Oklahoma State.
