I've not heard of Jeff Healey before - that was a wonderful performance by a very talented man. Incredible to think that he was blind, and I see on Google that he very sadly died in 2008. He left an amazing legacy of music. Many thanks for this reaction, guys.

Jeff is one of our Canadian treasures. Jeff lost his sight to cancer when he was around 1 so he learned to play the guitar in his own unique way from an early age. Jeff unfortunately had his cancer return and he lost his battle to it just a few short years ago but thankfully his music lives on in his albums and videos of live performances. RIP Jeff Healey. Gone too soon. Xo

Got to see Jeff play live twice. Once he was headliner doing a full set in a 2000 seat theater. Totally amazing music. The other time he was the surprise curtain call after The Robert Cray band full set before a SRV and Double Trouble full set before an Eric Clapton full set. When Clapton ended the night he did an encore and had Jeff come out with him and rip it up. Stupendous closing tune. More Jeff Healey please.

If you check out the biography that's on KZbin, it tells about the reason he plays with the guitar flat is because he had a hard time making the chords with his fingers because they were shorter, once he grew it was just easier to keep playing that way. He was an amazing guitar player. I highly recommend his cover of While my guitar gently weeps, it's phenomenal

Ah Jeff Healey .. he blended jazz, rock & blues masterfully. His singing style reminds me of a tame Stevie Ray Vaughn imho. God bless you Jeff, one of the greatest guitarist that we have been so privileged to have. Another taken from us far too soon. I sorry guys, but I did have to smile at your comment that he wasn't even looking at his guitar. But I'm sure that many people have told you that he was blind. Unfortunately, he had to have his eyes removed when he was just a baby. Hence His somewhat unique guitar playing style. By the way, please don't forget to react to Gary Moore The Messiah Will Come Again Live. Link below: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZyTaJ1tgch_p9k You won't be disappointed I promise. Also glad to see you discovering some very overlooked fantastic musicians who deserve to be much more famous than they are. Cheers from England and really looking forward to seeing your reaction to the Gary Moore link. 😁🎸

Cancer caused Jeff to lose his sight before he was even one year old. It was his blindness that produced his unique way of playing guitar. Sadly, it was also cancer that caused his death at a young age (41, I think). Known primarily for his guitar work, this song shows he also had an amazing voice -- PERFECT for singing the blues!
