I want them to do a Memphis wrestling episode so bad.

That was interesting Jeff. Knowing you guys used your own money to get it going too is a testament to yere inner strength and belief in your product and if ye didn't have that fire back in the day to push it through I believe there would be no TNA today.

I will say naming the company TNA was one of the worst decisions ever in the history of pro wrestling. Because it had that crass name, they cost themselves a lot of fans and sponcors. I understand the PPV guys very well and they were right. Since the company associated themselves with the NWA, they should have just named themselves the NWA. Or add a new name with an agrressive connotation. Maybe NWA Full Metal. Or NWA Renegades. Or NWA Primetime Championship Wrestling. Any names would have been better than TNA.

TNA may have been a poor name but going full boat on NWA as the name wouldn’t have been wise either. It would’ve made them subservient to the NWA promoters of the time to do that if they could’ve even come to an agreement to do something like this. How they presented things as an association with their own brand name was a good move over going full bore with an NWA name and a classic programming title like prime time championship wrestling. Those names were a bit too old school IMO but I can understand that a different name than TNA would’ve been a better move in the end. But at the same time I think the name gets more blame in their struggles than it realistically was. The bulk of their issues was how Panda operated things. Panda putting people in place to run things who had no experience was a huge issue. Panda not investing to grow it was a huge issue. Panda making short sighted decision after short sighted decision was an issue. In the end the PPV providers being worried about the name is hilarious if you think about it though. At this time what was the far and away biggest seller in context in PPV? Porn. It was always the largest money maker of the industry so it’s always funny that they were happy to sell porn but so worried about a wrestling company having a name that could have even a loose name referencing sexual content. Companies like in demand put themselves out of the market in how they ran things.
