Jeff Lorber is one of the best keyboard player in music. If this is the only song that you have heard by him your missing out on so much more of his music. Been a fan since the early 80's and have all his music. Wake up everyone and please check out all his music.

Just adding to your comments...yeah, I was listening to Jeff Lorber a few years prior to 1980 (in his younger years) got to hear in those days a very YOUNG Kenny Gorelick "G"...and I could hear even then (being a young Saxophonist myself) that he was definitely going to be a FORCE in the Saxophone World to be reckoned with! That Album, "Soft Space" is very hard to find, I looked for year for it on CD; and it took me about 2-3 Years, but someone put it up for sale on EBAY, and it was mint, new! And I only paid $25.00 for it at that time!

Honestly, I think Jeff played more creatively during his earlier career stages than present.

Played the heck out of the soft spaces album which this song Catherine is on. When I lived in San San Antonio, Texas. Then saw Jeff preform it live at Toads place in New Haven,Ct. And yes it was KennyG. On the horn. Seems like yesterday. All Jeff’s music is off the hook.

Interesting side note: Nate's 'Pleasure' co-founder Marlon MacLaine collaborated with Jeff on 'Rain Dance', probably Jeff's most profitable song; thanks to Biggie and Lil Kim...

@@markprater1 Thanks for that! Here's a story; A girlfriend gave my gf two Arista Records passes to a small club to go see a group named The Jeff Lorber Fusion, the saxophone player was a local kid and he tore it up! his name was Kenny Gorelick later known as Kenny G.

@@pcraig1383 I got on for you. I was stationed in Yokosuka Japan is the 90's and the live music scene there was incredible! There's a famous club district "Roppongi" in Tokyo. I was walking on street there and I met a brother who was looking for this club called "Pickford. So I was like yeah, I'll show you where it. So long story short, We started talking and he was Dennis Bradford, drummer for the JLF and he was a real cool dude and invited me in to watch them play. I never made it back over to the show, but I remember that day well and I've been listening to him every since I heard one of his tracks on ESPN in the early 80's " Bright Sky".

It would appear that with the Motifs, Montages, Fantoms & all the "improvements" in music gear, the best music is still very much behind us. Things have just become more mediocre or is it just my imagination? 🤨🤨🤔
@FlowJunkie653 ай бұрын
You really think so? Jeff has played a Motif, likely a Montage, and plays an S90 and other Yamaha keyboards. Honestly, I don’t miss my Fender Rhodes electric piano or its heft, and my Motif ES6 covers Rhodes and other electric pianos quite nicely, probably nicer than some e-pianos in my Kronos 2.

the guitarist and keyboard player look like twins, and the sax player kinda looks like that gorlic guy.

Buen compositor, pero no es tan bueno como pianista.
