I met you behind Centennial Hall in London Ontario back in the mid 90's. Me and my 2 friends climbed a pole and tried to see into the upstairs window. You came and waved at us through the glass and later on came out by the bus and signed our smoke packs! You had written 777 on only my autograph and I never knew what it meant! We saw you 5 more times, and you came over to say Hi after the show in Grand Bend Motorplex. You are the best to fans. Thank you for the best memories I have made so far :)

I love this song. It has so much raw emotion... He played it wonderfully at the concert he performed at in Melbourne. I love his ability to be able to release himself on stage; he is one of a kind :)

Jeff Martin sings Hurt with no compare to any one's performing it. He is our voice live.

A true artist he puts his whole heart and soul in his music, sucks you in. My daughter and her friend opened for him at a private concert last summer. He was so kind and invited them to the tea party concert to watch side stage. Such a kind man, down to earth. An experience my daughter and I will forever cherish. 😎

Jeff Martin did a really good job. Johnny Cash would be so proud of him.

its actually not by Cash but by Nine Inch Nails
@AnnaLVajda3 жыл бұрын
@@nomoretelekom yeah I don't know how Trent feels about it when Johnny covered it he compared it to having your girlfriend taken by a good friend it was upsetting but he held no grudge because Johnny was worthy of it.

Jeff Martin is the most underated, greatest singer/musician in music today. Simply brilliant!!!!!!

Sheesh, he's such a blend of musicians, a bit of Jim Morrison, a bit of Elvis, a tiny bit of Nirvana. So much depth! Chills. So beautiful

It's just himself, an amazing spirit.
@AnnaLVajda3 жыл бұрын
Yes I don't like to compare him too much to anyone else though I know he gets the Morrison references all the time and maybe the resemblance helped his popularity and maybe he was influenced by other artists but he's undeniably talented in his own right. He does things lots of the others don't too he writes songs Elvis didn't he plays a variety of instruments Morrison didn't he didn't overdose at 27 either. He's a producer too not sure how many other musicians do that.

In my mind....THE BEST MODERN ARTIST!!! Although Jeff and the Tea Party never really broke into the U.S...(other than Western N.Y) that Australia really embraced him and my home Canada still loves him dearly. Thanks for the glorious display of talent Jeff!!! *S*

I have no problems when artists re-do songs, aslong as they do a good job at making the song 'their own' and give the song some justice.....Why does Jeff always make songs sound so cool??? *LOL* It's incredible listening to his strong voice....(and he's an incredible...AND underrated guitarist). I recently converted my wife's 60 yr old uncle over to listening to the Tea Party and Jeff Martin....and he is absolutely hooked!!! Thanks for posting this!

I saw Jeff at the Sydney Opera House on Sunday night, singing Beatles Hits along side of Doug Parkinson, Glenn Shorrock and the amazing Jack Jones...I had not heard him before and his voice just blew me away...I guess I fell in love...(hes so god damned sexy)...I will be listening to a lot more of his music in the future...his voice is sensational...

@Pannadingoe if you haven't found it yet, there's a decent chance it's Santana's cover with Rob Thomas on vocals, his delivery does sound a bit like Jeff Martin at times on it

nobody will ever be able to play this song. It shouldnt even be attempted. They dont no how he felt and cant put that emotion into it. when johnny siings it he pours his heart into it and thats what makes the hair stand up

I totally agree. I think he's the best vocalist in the world (well, Bruce Dickinson is also amazing, I can't really decide). I liked the Tea Party years better, though :( I am so sad it didn't work out with them.

I love Jeff's take on this song, and I am a way bigger NIN fans than a johnny cash one. I've been trying to record a version of this myself, just for fun, but can't get the depth or drive to make it seem worth while.
@pierre51668411 жыл бұрын
Just FYI this is a nine inch nails song...Mr Cash only did a cover.

I miss when The Tea Party did Hurt... Jeff really belted it out... AND YOU COULD HAVE IT ALL>>> MY EMPIRE OF DIRT>>> This is good, but TTP did a much more heartwrenching version(or should I say snippet - I don't remember them ever doing the whole song...just a bit in the middle of Save Me.
@MasterGodfather9712 жыл бұрын
Right take note: this is a cover of Johnny Cash's version, as he sings "crown of thorns", as opposed to "crown of shit". He uses the changed lyrics that Cash implemented.

@deadpool4dawin12 жыл бұрын
fuck yes he's playing in trasmania soon
@drakan8015 жыл бұрын
he means the order. Trent Reznor's (i.e. NIN) the original writer
@the_black_arts16 жыл бұрын
Garth Brooks signature series? I haven't followed Jeff that much since The Tea Party ceased to exist, but I find it EXTREMELY odd he'd be playing a Garth Brooks Takamine. Is Garth Brooks playing a 1916 Gibson Harp Guitar now too? Odd.

@Dj44marihuana Great... That comment looks it should go on Johnny Cash video. -.-
@KingUponMain16 жыл бұрын
anyone know when jeff's new album is coming out?
@relearn14 жыл бұрын
@Misrabelle definately Reznor... love the NiN original, assuming cash got permission to change the words, but am gessing Trent wouldn't have minded too much. a great song that sounds good no matter who sings it :D (so far, pls don't let the idols cover it)
@Misrabelle14 жыл бұрын
@slimysteve12 Except that it's actually a Nine Inch Nails song? Trent Reznor wrote it.

its soo an awesome cover ! does someone know the tuning and the tabs ?
@AkiraFudou16 жыл бұрын
They might've said that for the 'crown of thorns' line as opposed to the original NIN lyric. Johnny Cash replaced it in his cover.

@intothevoid4215 жыл бұрын
I hope you're saying, RIP - Johnny, because this sounds more like Cash's cover and not because you think it's his song. This is a Nine Inch Nails song. Although, much respect to Mr.Cash and his version, as well.

Trent does it so well don't he !!!!!!!!
@Wolfmoss114 жыл бұрын
Not a bad cover. I wished he went up an octave and really screamed out the last part like Reznor does though. That would have made it perfect. No cover matches the sense of desperation and depravity conveyed in the vocals quite like Trent can.
@AnnaLVajda3 жыл бұрын
Yeah well with Cash he was old I think he recorded it a few months before he died and it has that whole lifetime behind it. Trents original version was like young angst hence still swearing he says sh*t instead of dirt for example. So I think the period of the persons life affects their interpretation too.
@Wolfmoss13 жыл бұрын
@@AnnaLVajda Hey there, I totally forgot I even made this comment 11 years ago! 😂 I agree with what you said. The time in an artists life totally influences the interpretation of their piece. Jeff had one of the best intense vocals when he was young so I just wish he brought them into this cover too. But I wish I had the energy I did 11 years ago too haha. 🙂
