A good friend if mine got me into this band and it's been a great journey.

Great to hear that these guys are back together. I look forward to hearing their new album (being released in September.) I've been a fan of The Tea Party since 1993. I agree with Jeff: 'Rock & Roll NEEDS a band like The Tea Party.'

Glad the Tea Party is back! One of my favorites all time bands!

Always loved Jeff's mellow attitude and straightforward confidence. That's a Thelemite right there, following his True Will. The new album truly does harken back to the old days with a freshness and a vengeance, with maybe even a pinch of "Transmission" thrown in thanks to Chatwood's penchant for electronics and synths. The Tea Party sound is there 100%!

So humble and honest with his fans about The Tea Party's re-ignition. Honest rock and roll, kids!!!! The Reunion Tour kicked ass but The Ocean at the End Tour you could see the looks exchanged on stage, the grins they share, the interactions..... they're baaaaaaaaaaaaack.

We met Jeff Martins by acccident years ago (2006?) after one of their gigs here in The Netherlands. And we had a really nice chat with him. Nothing pretentious at all. He was polite, engaging and interested and offered us a drink. Little surprised about the vibe in this clip though.....but well.... "you know" ;-)

Hard to believe someone with his voice smokes, whatever, rock on Tea Party.

what a fashionista - the clothing, mannerisms, accessories, shit even the accent I've never understood what happened to these guys, especially Martin, after Transmission. He was always one arrogant S.O.B. ("there are three bands in rock - Us, Tool, and Radiohead") but it's like image and success and approval became more important than the music itself. Guess it's an old story. The new album will tell the tale but "Water's On Fire" is no cause for hope - sounds like they picked up from their last album, lame melodramatic power ballads. Where did the genius that produced "Sister Awake," "Gyroscope," "Alarum," "Psychopomp," "Correspondences," "Drawing Down the Moon," etc go?

I couldn't agree with you more, i paid $258- to see them, with a so called " meet & greet" when a signing that normal bands do would have been more intimate. We got to see the sound check & get something signed & 1 pic with the band. I have been following them from when they 1st began, especially after Release came out, it helped me. But when i met Jeff Martin, he is a totally self absorbed dick, bragging about how much black majick he was into...blah, blah, blah, It was more like the "Jeff Martin show". Still love their music, the older stuff, but Jeff definitely needs a reality check.

***** It's funny how some people just can't see themselves from the outside and understand how they look. It's kind of disturbing too that Jeff went in just the wrong direction - people are supposed to become less bratty and pretentious over time, not more. Still, we'll always have The Edges of Twilight, which remains one of my favourite albums ever to this day. I wish The Tea Party would have just been content to be a cult band and create more music along those lines, not every band has to be hugely successful (indeed, looking at many of the ones that are, it's not at all clear that this is a good goal lol) and it's not like they weren't making a living...

Colonel Hart Exactly, I couldn't agree more. Plus when he says "I had to prove to Jeff & Stuart" what a load of crock!! the whole show, the actual physical spotlight was on Jeff Martin. I was also doing some media photos & could not get 1 good one of anyone else as they were either too dark or had that stupid red light on them. To me, Both Stuart & Jeff have been the one's that have kept it together while Jeff Martin went off doing whatever he wanted. Even their manager apologised to me. But.. I hadn't seen an old friend for so long & to see her with her eyes closed & so relaxed, thanks to a nice amount of beverages & a few J's, it was worth it from that aspect. & Biggest surprise was that the Support Band, the Superjesus, were absolutely amazing!!! There was so many there just to see them after so long away, When i saw the drummer, Paul later, i begged him to get the band back on tour, he even hed to drag me along the floor cause i monkey gripped his leg till he said a "maybe".They blew the roof off!

Got those same feelings too. Even after bottle of whiskey. I love their music. Since the start. I can sing every song. Every song. But this interview gave me a different vibe. I didn't like it.
@didoodle9 жыл бұрын
Yep, we ended up going up the back & having drinks with everyone from the "Superjesus", now THAT was a good show, & no showing off wanky talk excluding the other band members, making sure the spotlight was on him (Jeff), They just went for it, giving us nothing but pure rock & shared their love of music. Now that's cool :) then i tackled the drummer & fell flat on my face :/

Well I suppose as you grow and mature as an artist you can not expect your original fan base with do the same lots of people just like to live in the past and expect you to perpetrate that mood for them. They expect you to be 25 forever maybe because they wish they could be who knows?

Jeff looks like Robby Downy Jr. in this
@controloz33103 жыл бұрын
That is a big statement Jeff. Rock n roll has continued without the tea party and we now have many bands that fill that prescription. Not a huge fan of oceans either. It’s dated and boring.
@AnnaLVajda3 жыл бұрын
He said bands like the Tea Party as in that variety and he also said they are not a 90s band so why are you trying to date their more recent sound? People stifling artists growth and creativity with nit picking is so irritating he has some accessories so he's "arrogant" etc. I think after 20 years in the business if he has some self esteem he has earned that and why can't he wear what he likes or be entitled to his opinion?
@Kjell777Iverson10 жыл бұрын
Time to retire. If Jeff honestly thinks this album can hold a candle to Edges or even Transmission? He's completely deluded. Take your aviators and go back to ireland. Terrible, terrible album.
