Jeff is an incredible showman. It doesn't matter if his effects are simple yet visual or require extremely difficult sleights. Jeff loves what he does, puts 100% into his performances and it shows. His presentations are always visually stunning. He's one of my favorites

I grew up with Jeff in upstate NY, he was also a fantastic trick skier, in the early days of hotdog skiing and freestyle.

Wow, a lot of people don't know that about him. You know what I hate? Tell me your opinion on this; I was on a David Blaine video, and I made a comment saying I didn't like David Blaine's style of magic. Their conclusion was that I was just jealous of a Magician who was in his position. But that doesn't make sense because I'm obsessed with Jeff McBride, David Copperfield is still the best Magician of the century and Dan and Dave buck are responsible for a lot of my bookings. Would you say I'm just jealous?

Unpopular??? His Art of Card Manipulation series is the best-selling magic video series of all time and he did it all without an overblown viral marketing campaign that doesn't even show the full performance of one trick. Magic ain't always about fooling people it's about entertainment value and when I saw him do this live he killed and at the end of the show got a well-deserved standing ovation. As for the popular ones I've never needed to purchace a Garcia DVD since their easy to figure out.

I always get a kick out of neophytes saying things like "I know how that is done!", as if that is all there is to doing magic. Knowing a secret and performing it properly to the delight of an audience are 2 different things!

You are absolutely correct and also a lot of KZbin magicians have to do things 10 or 11 × 2 look good on camera one time period as a professional I have to do it right the 1st time every time or I won't be hired again

He may put 100% into his shows, but that would be enough to tire anyone out, yet the amount of energy he has to come up to you and show you more close up magic extremely enthusiastically even AFTER his shows, is just magnificent, That's something that Eugene Burger can't work out, I saw him both times he came to England, and by christ do I love him! uber amazing!

They should have turned the lights down more, in his live shows this is done practicaly in the dark. It looks better that way, but all in all Jeff's one of the best ever!

The delightful (heh) thing here is that 90% of those with even a passing knowledge of magic know how he does these tricks...but it doesn't matter one bit. McBride's movements are so graceful, his showmanship so clear, that the actual 'trick' is almost secondary. I'd pay good money to watch Jeff McBride walk across the street. I bet he'd do it with FLAIR.

what was great about his stuff was that there was such a wealth of info on them so that each magician who got them could pick and choose what they would perform. It's good to know alot of material but work with what fits your style or modify it to fit. That way no one effect gets over-exposed and all this great material remains strong. You may not use it now but you may in the future. The problem with one-trick DVDs is that it's only one trick, ergo that one trick gets beaten into overexposure.

Dude, you need to see McBride live and working a crowd before you can say shit like that. I've seen Copperfield, Burton, Angel, Penn & Teller, Siegfried & Roy, Amazing Jonathan, and Mac King all live and none of them brought the house down like McBride. Oddly enough the best trick was a rather simplistic one. His water bowl effect, I actually heard gasps when he did that one. That guy can spin anything to gold in front of a crowd and his ability to slay a crowd is what makes him one of the best.

McBride's Mask Routine is not famous because of the effect a spectator feels during a routine. This routine is recognized because of the originality, the beaty, and the artistic way McBride performs it.

@Pinkstonnaked Well you have to buy the right cane, install lights, etc. It would be best to just buy one. And dude wtf i don't know about the vanishing bird trick, I don't see whyd you ask me that.

I've been updating my stage show and I've been stuck on my coin set for 6 days. It's like I have Magicians version of writers block. I have a set of Morgans with a shell. The Charming Chinese Challenge, 20 palming Morgans and a few other things. I don't want to do the misers dream because I'm doing that with cigarettes. I can't wait until get past this.

And another thought. Mcbride is also the most generous teacher when it comes to magic. He actually contributes to young magicians with his DVD series and school. You actually learn about performance and history of magic unlike the current trend ala Dan Garcia and Wayne Houchin who are only interested in inventing tricks to sell on over-priced single trick DVDs with the sole intention of making money off of young magicians. Tricks have died in less than a year due to their overpopularity.
