Groove for days. Jeff was a magician, he was that type of musician that don't need to do stupidly complex things to be good, "only" outstanding feeling and efficiency. And you captured that feeling perfectly.

Another IMPECCIBLE performance from this drummer! And yes, his timing and feel is top-shelf; I can't help but notice he is SIGHT-READING da sh$t outta the chart before him! No, he's not looking down or looking where his hands need to go during each phrase or before turnaround. At all times, his eyes are straight ahead and focused on the chart before him! Top-notch studio artist, indeed! 💯

I agree with the comment below. Jeff never believed in drum solos, and was very comfortable playing in the pocket. And that song is not easy to play. For those who covered for Jeff on this tune after his demise, you could always tell that somethign was missing. But this guy did a great job. Well done!

Not only is your site reading impressive but your ability to feel the grove via your natural rhythm is what I notice most here. Many drummers could read that sheet music but would play it robotically. Your feel behind the kit is what makes this piece unique. Very well done.

and he would also call in other drummers if he wasnt feeling the track and thought someone else could do it better. he would end his time for the artist but hang out and help still while also giving other drummers huge chances to be on massive songs too. its a real shame dirt bags are still on earth but this man is not a true inspiration of what to strive for in all aspects of life @@wbrockstar9550

Well since your title comes off a little bit chest beaty ill give an honest critique.. not bad but your flamming all over the place here especially all the fills but also a lot of the beats, obviously its very hard to get the beat placement right when playing anything jeff did, i like how you dropped the kick into the backbeat like he does to punctuate a bar, most people miss these little things, he really had an ability to drop everything late and a hihat tilt that was one of a kind. Im not bagging on your playing your got great skill, its a really tough track to play
@pulsedrumschoolbassindarca58389 ай бұрын
Thank you for your feedback and your honesty. I agree with you. This is a sight reading practice video, it was my first time playing this music. It's difficult to play JP to perfection, that's why it remains the best!! thanks again.
@studiogerk8 ай бұрын
Maybe a bit nit-picky but this feels like it's pushing too much ahead of the beat. One of the amazing things that Gadd does is that he can play right on the beat or behind the beat and make it feel so laid back. This does not feel laid back. It feels pushed in most places. The choruses feel more "on the beat". None of it feels behind the beat/laid back like the original. (that said I could not do a better job!)
