Jeff Prather, the Designer of the TOPS Knives Prather War Bowie

Warriorschool founder Major Jeffrey Prather (USA Ret.) has over fifty years of real world experience as as a master martial artist, federal law enforcement special agent, firearms instructor, military intelligence officer and special operator. He has extensive operational experience both domestically and abroad, and has taught units of all military branches including many special operations, intelligence and law enforcement agencies.
The Prather War Bowie's blade is a massive 7 inches long and a nearly unbreakable 1/4 inch thick. The blade is purposely wider than others to create a more devastating wound channel. The overall length is 12 5/8 inches, allowing a generous grip that accommodates large or gloved hands. And whether the operator's hands are bloody or frozen, Top's Knives's famous Rocky Mountain Tread handle scales offer the ideal combat hold.
The War Bowie's classic sweep and forward balance point naturally facilitate cutting and chopping. The unique dropped blade forms an integral safety guard that makes it impossible for the operator's fingers to accidentally slide forward and be cut while stabbing with forward or reverse grips.
Thumb grooves on the spine add extra control for fine cuts. A sharpening groove at the base of the edge eases sharpening in the field. The Prather War Bowie's false edge delivers superior penetration when thrusting. The War Bowie comes with a black nylon tactical sheath, that has a front pocket and MOLLE webbing on the back.
The War Bowie was designed by former 7th Special Forces, DEA Special Agent, DIA Intelligence Officer, and Bujinkan martial arts master Jeff Prather. Jeff also founded Warriorschool, a tactical training academy that specializes in preparing discreet government agencies and specialized military units for hostile overseas environments.

Did anyone catch the “Prather Law Bowie” statement? I wanna see it! Hopefully it is a 5” version of the PWB. I love the PWB. Hopefully one day TOPS will start making more of them and make them with a nicer kydex sheath.

Having studied the same martial arts discipline as Sensei Jeff (Prather), I have loved using this knife. It has an excellent balance and sweep. I've loved using it in the woods and hopefully I'll never have to use it for its primary designed purpose - which i am sure it will excel at.

I know what you mean. I used it on a nine day fishing/camping trip to Montana in 2014, and it was a great field knife. I had to buy a second one when Mumma Bear and I took Bowie Seminar in Tucson. 👍🏼👍🏼

I bought Jeff’s War Bowie when it was first released years ago. Like everyone else, I replaced the sheath immediately. I have it next to me right now. It proved invaluable on my journey to Baldur’s Gate.

I want to tell him that his product is now imported to Japan and used. I am one of users of Prather War Bowie and I'm using it as my camp knife. I will highly recommend this knife for out-door activity except one point. That is the Nylon sheath with velcros. I wanted Kydex sheathes for this knife.

Love the information, however, I believe the ideal length for SD blade is around four inches, like the silent hero 4. This provides enough blade for any combat situation and it's shorter profile gives up less leverage which could be a liability in an enclosed space.

The Prather War Bowie is my edc knife. It’s a great knife for any occasion. Works equally well in the woods, in the kitchen, or on the battlefield. Best part of the Prather War Bowie is the knife envy it creates whenever you pull it out. 😎 Mumma Bear and I took the Bowie Seminar a few years back. Well worth the trip to Tucson.👍🏼👍🏼 (best part was I had to buy a second PWB for Mumma Bear). She likes her TOPS Longhorn Bowie better, so now I have two.

I like that paracord fastening method. While my Prather War Bowie is still in the factory nylon sheath, I tried this with a couple of my Cold Steel knives, and it works well for both my Master Tanto and Magnum Tanto XII.

Fucking legendary knife!!! Nobody can prove to me that this isn't the best all around large knife made by Tops. I love mine and at 32 i can tell that it will out live me for my two kids to fight over. My son 8 loves his MSK and mini harpoon and his sister 2 will pick out her own when she's old enough. Best production fixed blades you can buy and the prices are far less than i always expect. Buy a Prather when/if you can, it will not disapoint if you have large hands and it feels god like.

A few years ago I bought the desert nomad, but I remember just starring at this knife. Thinking its time to break down and buy it. Sad to see everyone rip on the stock sheath, theyre fine sheaths. Kydex is frankly hot trash. Brittle, breaks too easily.
