I was lucky enough to be in the LSU drumline in 88-89 with Jeff as Captain. His success comes as no surprise. An incredible drummer, leader and genuinely nice guy.

Jeff was the head of percussion studies while I was a student @ The University of Louisiana at Lafayette. I was on the snare line, but never got much out of the guy other than a few excercises...he liked to show off more than anything...but I'll give him props for his hands...

John Dowling, may he rest in peace, 13 National Champion individual snare drummer, and that one contest he won individual snare, his drum quartet, took first place, and at the same National Championship he took first place solo soprano player. Three national championships in a single day. Nobody has ever done that. I was very fortunate to become friends with John back in 1992, when we started the American Spirit senior alumni, drum and bugle Corps, in the Tampa Bay area. Today is June 21st 2022. John, was the person who developed back sticking, still being used today. First time you used it when he was teaching the United States Air Force drum and bugle Corps, and they drum quartet use it for the first time in a national championship taking first place. People that attended that competition including the judges were in total or, first time the public was fortunate enough, to witness back sticking for the very first time. I apologize, for any errors, I am visually impaired and it is difficult for me to make Corrections.

My sentiments exactly. Oooosss!!! If he likes ramming notes so much, what's his problem with ScoJo & Blue Devs? By the way Grasshopper, 'clean' is a word that is used in reference to the ability of multiple drummers to play in unison.

@brewmanbrett16 жыл бұрын
So let's break this down: In reference to his technique and chops, he's excellent, not legendary. All three guys mentioned above have better hands than Prosperie. Contributions to marching percussion? Hardimon, Sanford, Float, Aungst, ScoJo, etc, etc, are legends, not Prosperie. The only legend he's accumulating right now is being judge who is biased against drumlines who play notes, and a guy who comes up with cheesy names for his solo's. And how many guys actually play at DCA anyway?
@blaiseayala91317 жыл бұрын
brewmanbrett ummm I mean you can't really compare them against each other they have never done anything competitive against each other plus they are on a scale neither of us can put them on. I've marched infinity 2 open class and I can't decide who is better than who .
