Expression in what sense? Their is expression in the collective playing. The control and technique is impeccable and expresses their sacrifice to play a certain way. The love for drum corps is like no other. It will change your life forever.
used to watch these videos over and over when they'd come out in high school.

It's a typical marching snare tuning. Cranked way the hell up. The drums are designed for extreme tension, and if you check out the black max heads [what I think they are using] or any other marching snare head, you'll see it resembles the texture of a seatbelt. That is kevlar, my friend. And then the snares aren't metal either. Nylon. Totally unique sound that's meant to carry across a football field with the utmost clarity.
@milojohnson30576 жыл бұрын
this is me being pedantic as kevlar and the black max material is literally almost exactly the same just with minor chemical differences, but remo Black Max heads are Technora aramid fiber. they actually dye the fiber black because technora is normally a gold color. i wish remo sold them like that

DCI is about the music, not the fans. Football games and showstyle competitions are to pump up the fans and have fun. DCI is for musicians by musicians and rythms that make a fellow drummer get pumped may have no affect on the average fan. Thats the difference between corps and showstye, corps fans ARE pumped up by the complex and impressive music whereas normal fans are pumped up by the funky rythms and excited showmanship of showstyle

What is the history of this cadence, why doesnt Santa Clara do it anymore?
@timf59639 жыл бұрын
Murray Gusseck (tenors '88-'92), wrote it for the '90 season. It went through many changes; the sheet music I have and the videos on KZbin have a 12/8 intro. This '02 version is similar to the '91 and '92 editions. They didn't play it the rest of the 90s, not until 2002, then again the next year. Not sure where the name came from, or why they don't play it anymore. I have an audio-only recording of them playing everybody on at Preview of Champions in '92. They repped it about 4-5 times and got the crowd pretty wild.
@pasta_heals9 жыл бұрын

clarification a cadence is a piece that lasts anywhere from 30-90sec that groups march out on the field to a warmup piece is a 30-90 sec piece that people warm up their hands with. so techincally, they can both be the same thing. if SCV was marching to this, it could be a warmup and a cadence

@drumpredator1 its how the heads get put on. The rim will be low if they put on and cranked tight the top head before the bottom head was put on and tightened. to get a good balance of rim on both sides of the drum (what i do) you put both heads on lose then tighten back and fourth untill desired level
