When Dad and I watched this soon after it was released, we thought Jeff had all the makings of the next big thing in martial arts movies. He was highly skilled, a decent actor, and looked great on camera. It was disappointing to see him in subsequent movies with lower and lower production values and scripts, and he faded out of the movie industry. I believe he had some health issues which may have contributed to his departure from film, too. And yet, watch him move now, and he's leveled up several times.

This movie was sort of a "Pan-Asian film". The American martial art of Kenpo (made up of Japanese & Chinese martial arts) was taught in Koreatown. While, the Japanese henchman Tanaka, worked for the Korean mafia boss Yeng, who referred to himself as an "Oyabun", which is a Japanese term for a mafia leader.

Ever since I grew up watching Bruce Lee, chuck norris, I have been busting my ass to find a school to learn martial arts and I'm studying to pass the ASVAB test and join the military but it has been stressful to me because my dad is suffering with cancer and I hope he still be around long enough to see me becoming a martial artist

Pretty funny. Sitcoms on TV have a laugh track, where a guy has a machine that produces a chuckle or a belly laugh with the push of a button. They seem to have a BANG!! POW!! machine for these clips. I've seen a lot of boxing on TV and live and the real fights make much less noise.

Unfortunately, around the time this film was released, Speakman he was up against already established martial arts stars (think Steven Seagal, Van Damme, etc). I do agree though that he was a better actor than those guys, but to be fair, the bar was already very low - nobody really watched Seagal or Van Damme for their acting skills! 😂

I actually liked his style of martial arts much better than Van Damme, and I think he was a much better actor than Van Damme ever was. It really is too bad about his health issues, but I guess that's life. I would have much rather have seen him get the major studio contract that Segal got, I think he brought a lot more humanity to his acting ability and a lot more believability in his martial arts And he didn't stand around with a grim look on his face trying to act like a tough guy, at least he smiled and laughed and had a sense of humor, and there's also the fact that he didn't run like a girl lmfao
