Nice fun effect. I think because the cards are coated with a plastic film you can use an erasable marker, so in actuality you could create any card. Similiar coating on backing of the card box with the effect "Little door by Roddy".

Agreed. Something like that may work. Although the cards are not quite as glossy as they appear on camera. My main "beef" is that the ad copy said "we'll teach you XYZ" but they did not teach "XYZ." Otherwise, as mentioned in the video, this is solid.

I think the “pick any card” comes from the magician can choose any of the 52 cards to force on the spec. I agree it’s misleading, but maybe not nefarious what with the language nuances of English. Great review.

Could one put Post-it notes, one letter per Post-it, on the back of the cards instead of permanent marker to spell out the card name, or would that make it too thick?

I just thought of that today while was rewatching the video. I'll have to play around with that and see. But the "issue" still stands that they advertised something that never came up in the tutorial. :(

I thought about it as well. We're the babymetal. J-E-F-F-O It's alive... I was thinking about using dry erase marker and spraying a small mist sealent over, so no smearing. Or just buy two or three .... somethings got to give now!!! Let the bodies hit the floooooor!

@@JMENTERTAINMENTANDMAGIC - wet-erase markers would work the same way as dry erase with mist. But that’s only if the back of the cards are plastic enough. If they’re not, then neither idea will work. Maybe adding a piece of clear packing tape to the back of each first then writing on them? It’s hard to say without testing and thus potentially ruining my gimmick. I gotta go. My palms are getting wet. It’s probably from sharpening the axe but who knows?

It’s possible that a wet-erase marker may work. I’m not sure how it will hold up while everything is folded up. That said, my main issue is that they claimed that something specific would be taught but didn’t teach it. 😔

Maybe I'm old fashioned, and I am, but this is the sort of nonsense that appeals to magicians not laymen. The standard "Magician's Insurance Policy" is 10 times more entertaining and costs maybe 8 - 10 bucks.

Thanks for watching! That's why I don't review the effect. I mention it. Tell you about it, etc., but the effect has zero impact on the final star rating. I hate coin flurry and card warp, and ambitious card, but tons of people make a living doing just those (or similar) tricks. I hate the color changing knives and a thousand other things that some people like. I happen to like this effect. But not everyone will. This review (and all of my other ones) are specifically for someone who likes the trick they saw in the trailer and just wants to know if they'll actually get what the trailer and ad copy claim. That's what I do. :0]

@@StoneColdMagic I understand your point, and I do appreciate you taking the time to describe what you actually get for your money, whether it's a well-made, well thought out product, if the instructions are adequate, and if the claims in the ad are accurate. I fully realize that every performer has their own tastes and preferences. Your reviews are much better than most of the others, who seem to be little more than shills for whatever magic company sends them free product.
