Number 1 you have to hire people that’s going to be easy on your equipment and treat your things with respect and you better hope they are trustworthy because if not they can run off with your equipment and sell that shit and then you’d lose a lot of money and that’ll be the end of you. I recommend you start the trucking business off with just you and another person in the beginning and then over time buy more trucks and hire more people

CFP and CFA here. I understand what you are saying, but if you have $2m you can easily live off dividend payments with the right portfolio. It's not going to be NBA lifestyle, but it would easily match mid level professional's salary, which would give you the opportunity to find work, housing, etc. Best thing a rookie could do would be to get a financial advisor. Not a family friend, but a real one at large brokerage.
