Jordan, Kobe , Lebron and Curry are not just the faces of NBA but they are also the world renowned athletes. They actually players who made a lot of impacts and impressions of how people look at the NBA. Meanwhile all the new stars these days might be good but they are not really world renowned or have made any major impacts to the Sport yet. Also most the new stars are European players and they can only help support the awareness of the NBA so far cuz at the end of the day Futbal will still be No.1 sport in Europe. Luka , Giannis or Joker are famous but i swear they are not dominating the sport scene like Mbappe or Haaland

For me it’d be Tatum, Luka, and Shai all battling for that spot; similar to how Curry, Bron, and KD for a while were somebody’s number 1 every year. There’s tears to this on talent. The media doesn’t like Boston and Tatum so I doubt they’d push for him, especially with him having a HOF resume at 26 years old. Shai is a talented guy that hasn’t really been marketed in the right way as a “league changing” talent, loved this guy since he played for my Wildcats and can’t be anymore proud of his rise. Luka is the definition of a “do it myself” attitude on offense, but also needs to fix his defensive game. Luka can be that guy, he’s easily marketable but the media wants an American to be the face of the league. Ant is the perfect guy to market but is more of a D. Rose or D. Wade type of guy who will be held back by Minnesota’s front office. Cade is probably going to be held back as well in Detroit due to their front office. Zion does not love the game enough and peaked in his 2nd season, causing that generational talent to be wasted. Lamelo is a highly gifted talent who is more suited as a 2nd option on a championship team when healthy. Tear 1: Tatum, Luka, Shai Tear 2: Ant & Wemby Tear 3: Paulo if he develops into a Top 3 guy, Ja Morant is ideal for the league to market but isn’t at that level. there won't be a "face of the league" because it's becoming harder and harder to be invested emotionally in the game, in players, and with teams...there are basically no rivalries, a lot of the emotion of the game has been systematically erased from the game based on how they've officiated the past decade, not to mention load management and star players being more engaged with their podcasts than they are the game or with their team...the style of play is going to lean towards 3 point shooters and volume scorers as well so if it's going to be anybody it'll be Luka, LaMelo, maybe Trae, or a volume scorer like Ja, Ant or Jalen Green For marketing purposes the NBA is more invested in having a handful of guys share that label, I think they're afraid of putting all their eggs in one basket as they did with MJ, Kobe, LeBron, KD and Steph

@@369pendulum sure if you think it's the NBA that does the choosing...I don't, I think it's the fans that ultimately choose in conjunction with the player themselves, many great players have not cared about being the face of the league such as Joker and I think Wemby is in that class too...he doesn't strike me as someone concerned with how he is perceived outside of the context of the game, he didn't grow up in American culture and the drive to be the most popular doesn't seem to be there, I haven't seen any major national ads he's in, his merch isn't the top selling (yet) and I just don't think the avg. fan is ever going to relate to a French unicorn We've also never had a foreign face of the NBA, even Giannis hasn't held that title by himself and he's been top 3 for the past half decade
