Farm Aid

Күн бұрын

From DirecTV's broadcast of Farm Aid 25: Growing Hope for America, Jeff Tweedy performs a cover of Woody Guthrie's "Remember the Mountain Bed" at Miller Park in Milwaukee on October 2, 2010. Farm Aid was started by Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp in 1985 to keep family farmers on the land and has worked since then to make sure everyone has access to good food from family farmers.
For more information about Farm Aid, visit: farmaid.org/you...
Farm Aid's performances are donated by the artists in order to raise funds and raise awareness for family farmers. They've raised their voices to help - what can you do?

This reminds me of this girl I loved in Yosemite… I seen her wear a red felt dress in the Merced River at night , she left and kept Me there ,love makes the wind blow cold and warm , it could never cool the heat in my heart. Lynda I hope you see this someday and smile and remember me

This is such an unbelievable almost surreal performance in a suburban Milwaukee baseball stadium

I've watched this so many times. Woody's lyrics should be considered one of the greatest love poems ever written and Tweedy did them ample justice.

The first time I hear the Mermaid Avenue version. I nearly wept. I felt like I had been given oxygen. Watching this version I now know that I had.

this was the first dance song when I got married...lyrics may not be the best for it, but my wife and I love Tweedy/Wilco/Guthrie!!! You are the best Jeff! We also saw him in Rochester, MN solo (with our 3 yr old daughter) and this is the first song he played. As soon as he started singing it, our daughter put her arms around us...tear :) Good times, great man and even better song!

This is such a savagely beautiful song. What more needs to be said? Everytime I listen to this song I think of my love. My Jamie. Its corny and its genuine. Simply gorgeous.

I learned the reason why man must work and how to dream big dreams, To conquer time and space and fight the rivers and the seas I stand here filled with my emptiness now and look at city and land And I know why farms and cities are built by hot, warm, nervous hands.

The description of the video above is actually incorrect, Tweedy wrote the music to Guthrie's lyrics. This song was part of the Mermaid Ave. II compilation. No matter how you cut it, this is a devastating performance.

I love Tweedy's anti rock star look, which looks like he just got out of bed! It's all part of his charm though, isn't it? His music, persona, (fantastic sense of humour!) and down to earth raw talent speaks to all of us,;like a beloved family member, or one of your oldest best friends, that is a pleasure to hang with, and cheers you up, no matter how bummed out you are.
