Actually War of the Worlds has been been filmed more than twice in various incarnations and I would hardly say Jeff Wayne is wringing it, but even if he was... it's his project he can do what he wants with it. There was a series back in the 80's in the UK for The Tripods so it's not as if it would be a fresh idea anyway!

Jeff Waynes fighting machines wouldn't last long against a modern military force. The 2005 tripods would have been more fitting. But god this animation is pretty damn good.

pretty funny, the book was written 122 years ago, and within a few decades we'd developed all the technology needed to defeat the martians.

Hooverblox but by that time, the Martians would have also developed better technology. Remember that they would have always been watching us, meaning that no matter how much we advance, they would too.

Also, the Martians literally have lasers that can destroy pretty much anything and they can build the fighting machines that could knock down a skyscraper just by looking at it probably. And don't forget the flying machines. Aaand the handling machines. Also the rest of the machines that they can build.

@@memekip555 You're ingoring the fact that Martians lost fighting machines against cannons in Jeff Waynes war of the worlds. In the modern day when we have cruise missiles, nukes, long range artilery, etc they can easily be killed. The reason why the 2005 fighting machines or even the OG movie fighting machines would stand a better chance is thats they had shielding.

War of the Worlds. I love it, but --filmed twice, Jeff Wayne wringing it like a pair of rank swimming trunks... while John Christopher's The Tripods CRIES OUT to be made. It's THERE in front of every film producer and TV exec in the country. It's there in front of HBO; it's painted itself neon orange and it's rubbing its balls in their faces. For Christ's sake.
