I had a very similar situation as Jeff's happen to myself. I was 19 when my childhood "best friend" drove a truck across a farm with me in the back (on the tailgate). With no warning, she thought it would be funny to do a burnout and abruptly accelerated, essentially ejecting me off the back of the truck onto a rock hard path. I lost consciousness for 40 minutes and when I came to, I've never been the same. I suffered a traumatic brain injury, whiplash, tissue damage, nerve damage, permanent herniated discs pressing on my spinal cord, TMJ, memory loss and so much more. Even after the accident, I still thought she was my best friend... I overlooked the fact that she didn't call me an ambulance, she didn't offer me any help and alternately blamed me for "not holding on". The grief of losing the life I thought I'd have is a terrible curse. I had a whole career ahead and so many goals, and now I struggle to work any job. I am now 24 and gearing up for back surgery. When I was forced to make the hard decision to go after her insurance company to take care of me, she never spoke to me again. She is actively trying to fight my lawsuit. The sad part is that like Jeff said.... we both still wanted to see the good in these people even after they *literally* destroyed us. I truly do pray and wish nothing but healing and comfort for Jeff and his family. Healing from a freak accident is the most lonely, nuanced road. But I know even though it's our "new normal", there will be a day where I've been the new me for longer than the old me- I hope I make her proud ❤

@@christinaobregon4 trust me i will never do it again. i can’t have anyone near my eyes now. it was the scariest experience of my life and i sobbed for weeks. also (the surgery wasn’t even successful) so all that trauma was for nothing. i’m just glad it didn’t effect my vision.

@@geemorales3555I wondered that too, kinda getting the vibe they are no longer together. His "relationship" with Verica seemed very forced, to me. I feel the long distance was not the best scenario for them, plus she was very cute, but something seemed off and a little disingenuous about her. It didn't feel organic to me...🤷💖

I feel like talking with Trish, even if it’s technically work, it seems very therapeutic for Jeff and like he enjoys being a little out of his comfort zone. Trish challenges him to be more open and just have genuine conversation without the fear of the audience judging him. Love to see it 🩷🪩

jeff you’re never going to get back to your old self. your old self never had a brain injury, your old self wasn’t betrayed by a close friend or several close friends. Buttt you get to explore and create who this version of you is. i fought for years trying get back to a normal that doesn’t have the experiences i’ve had as person with chronic illnesses. learning my new self helped heal that part of me so much. this version of you is perfect exactly as you are! ❤

She is also working hard to be respectful, to really HEAR people, to do the right thing, and to be unproblematic. I see you, Trish. I trust who you trust, always. Do what feels right for you. I enjoy the Jeff episodes but I know this is hard for both of you. Thank you for the content.
