changmin is one of my favorite vocalists EVER, sm's original high note guy!!! his first mini Is one of my top 4 albums of literally all time and this follow up did NOT disappoint, I love it! I'm so glad more people are getting into him now because he deserves it

He's an ACE at SM. It's no joke that TVXQ! had been the most money-making artists at SM for years. I remember a few years back the due were contributing over 50% of the company's revenue.

Changmin exudes confidence and experience because has been in the industry for 18 years! This is his first solo comeback after his first solo mini album 'Chocolate' (I recommend you to check that out too!) and he mentioned that he was more hands-on in this album than for Chocolate. He's always been doing high notes in their group songs (a recommended Changmin high note compilation: kzbin.info/www/bejne/j5-sqIqDf5uAY7c ) and my personal favorite song by him is Rise as One (This song still gives me CHILLS even though I've listened to it hundreds of times already!)

So far, he's performed on Music Bank (other than his comeback show) and it was incredible! I know him from TVXQ (the idols have been performing their songs on the end-of-year shows) and he was on the variety show with Bistro Shigor - he's so soft-spoken and kind-hearted, and then he comes out and sings this song - WOW! SM vocal royalty is right!

your last few thoughts are on point. if you look at the Girls On Top performance thenyou clearly see the difference in stage presence between the newer gen compared to the more experienced members. the way they command the stage is just different, with how confident they are in their moves and talents that it just shows that they’re a fish in the water and that they don’t get swallowed by other inhabitants because of that confidence and sense of security while being on the stage.

After watching Changmin’s performance of Fever in SMTOWN concert, I was totally sold! He went off and I have listened to all his songs on Spotify including Japanese releases. Now I have to dive deep into TVXQ and Yunho solo. Although I’m a huge fan of Kai and NCT, his performance became my favorite from that concert.

SM Royalty indeed...TVXQ is one of the groups that brought me into Kpop 15, 16 years ago when they were already just a duo, Max and Yunho, with the epic song "Keep Your Head Down"...ah, epic for me at that time...that song solidified the fact that I had to delve into this thing called Kpop, even before the title "Kpop" became a thing....TVXQ, RAIN, SUJU AND BIG BANG did it for me...and I never looked back...I still thoroughly appreciate Yunho and Max's solo joints since they started solo stuff...Jeff have you seen Yunho's "Drop" or "Thank You" mvs? Although both have been going solo, I really wish they would be TVXQ again..the duo, and bring that classic TVXQ sound back... This "Devil" mv just takes me back to Max's awesome vocals from that TVXQ era....he is indeed royalty. 💙🌺

This is actually a 2021 song from Alex Runo, a swedish singer/songwriter! It was absolutely one of my fav songs from 2021. I couldn't believe my ears when I first heard this because I would have never expected to see that song used in kpop but... JEEZ, WOW. Max is a powerhouse vocalist and an amazing performer. The video did the song justice, it gave me some Chilling adventures with Sabrina vibes haha! I'll be definitely following Changmin this year :)

You should check out "Chocolate", very different from "Devil" but still has that showman vibe that Changmin always manages to deliver. It's pretty sad that people get excited mostly with 4th and 3rd generation groups and don't give a chance to older kpop. The music can be sometimes "outdated", but there are songs that still are pure gold!

Hi, Jeff. I am so so so happy that finally you uploaded this video of uri ChangMin royalty. Been waiting for so long that you notice his performance. I am sure you will be amazed and enjoy the music and performance. Fully agree that his voice is SM royalty proof. Hope you will also give a try to his performance with UKnow Yunho in their bg, TVXQ! I went to their concert twice and seriously their performances were insane!!! The live vocal is superrrr incredible. Quality and experiences are not lying. I can say TVXQ! and Shinee's concerts are the best of the best so far from all SM artists. Hope you can enjoy and explore TVXQ! music more. You can check their Japan's concerts. They are all the best. Dunno why the aura and the quality of the performances are different from another concert. Totally outstanding! Check them out, Jeff. Yep, SM used "Devil" to draw Changmin/TVXQ into its SM Culture Universe with the reference to Kwanyga in the lyrics and the pink planet you see in the MV, etc. I guess as Rising Gods of the East, it makes sense that TVXQ could be otherworldly-beings just like the rest of SM's groups and artists, in order to connect their storyline to the rest of SM's Universe story. Changmin has been nicknamed Bambi by his fans and he has taken it on as a sort of spirit animal that represents him, so I think the deer in the MV is supposed to symbolize him. If you read the lyrics, the song is about having self doubts and bad thoughts and harboring those feelings within your heart. So in the end the deer (himself) becomes like the Devil because he has now embraced those feelings. During U-Know's and his reaction video to the MV, Changmin said the forest you see him in is a real forest and they had to take a boat to get there. They used drones with lights on them to light the area to give it that spooky effect. "Devil" is the title track off his second solo mini album Devil. If you haven't yet, check out his pre-release "Fever" stage video that was part of SM's New Year's Eve SMTown SMCU Express concert and "Maniac" promotional video which are also songs on this album.

Thank you for the reaction. Changmin is truly legendary. I would suggest you also go back in time and try to react to Rising Sun. There is also a ballad that still gets me goosebumps until now when I listen to it. It’s called Love in the Ice and released when TVXQ were still the original 5 members. It’s eargasm guaranteed! 😊

The moment I saw that you reacted to Devil I knew it! I knew you've watched SMTOWN Concert and you've definitely watched Changmin's performance of Fever. His performance is also one of my favorite performances in the concert and I am hoping you've watched it too and you actually did! Maybe you want to see more of TVXQ's performances like Mirotic (though I'm not sure if there are clear videos), they are worth watching for too.

When a friend recommended me TVXQ around 2007..2008..my bias is Changmin purely coz of his vocals. Over time. Yunho was busy playing bias wrecker. Now, both of them I adore equally. Both of them voices, oooffff... Awesome! So I'm not surprised when newer fans are shocked by his vocals. He can do a lot more than what's presented here. SM royalty indeed!

I felt like this this song was HEAVILY inspired by African American spirituals (specifically wade in the water) which made me feel kind of weird about it, to be honest. It's probably not my place as I'm not black but I hope that those unfamiliar with the genre understand that spirituals, often referred to as "negro spirituals" within the community were purely the origin of african slaves who used it as hope but ALSO as codes to pass messages within the confines of slavery. These songs were instructions to freedom and a way to subvert oppression. This genre has deep meaning and THAT is why it's so soulful. I would love a black person to speak more to this as it is their culture and story to tell but as I can I hope we will always remember how much of what we love in media is a direct result of the pain of black americans and that we endeavor as much as we can to treat it with the reverence and respect it deserves.
