Jefferson Ave from Detroit to the Northern Suburbs

Hey there, just discovered your channel and I'm having a good time sitting back and watching. Every once in a while I'll see something that takes me by surprise regarding the city of Detroit, and this video does it. Notice the Hurlbut Memorial gate to the old water park at 3:40- 3:42. The very top of the monument has an eagle. Well, that eagle was struck by lightening during a storm several years back. The structure looked bare without its eagle. However...there it is once again atop the structure. That's really encouraging when folks go out of their way to reconstruct something great that's been damaged. Now, you DID just film this drive very recently, right, like within the last few weeks or so? This isn't an old film from a few years back...before the monument was struck?!

Yes just filmed this a few weeks back. They are doing a bunch of work at the water works park and I think they may have restored the gate

I enjoyed that ride! Thank you. Also, I think Detroit will continue to be rebuilt but it will take decades to reach its former state.

Thanks. I agree Detroit has great potential it just needs to get more people with the vision to make it happen.

like 90 percent of the original city got destroyed and replaced with parks, parking lots and empty lots.

And that is what you see on Jefferson. When you get into the neighborhoods it is really sad seeing all the empty streets
