Your show-woman-ship was fantastic in addition to your talent . And yes the autotune is pushed moreless by producers in studio . The person singing , think they care ? @@Richie5903 Please read my original post. I did not say she was identical to Grace or did it as well as Grace. I said that she did it like Grace, without trying to nuance it, like when the Blue Man Group covered it. There will only be one Grace Slick, just like there will only be one Jim Morrison, one Freddie Mercury, etc. Apparently, the remaining band members thought that she did it justice. What was sad about your response was instead of saying something civil like, "I don't agree. There will always be only one Grace Slick, and she is not Grace." You leveled insults. That is a sad way to approach life.

There is this singular problem with this song that has been bothering me for 50+ years. It's far too friggin short people. It needs two breaks, a tripped out guitar solo in one and a Doors style keyboard solo in the other. The intro alone, with guitar keying us in and drums rolling us into the song should be as long as the song is now! And there should be lyrics forever. I need this to go on for 25 minutes. C'mon people...

Your Completely Right ! It should be done that way now . I think it was done in 1966 tho , that would be the year before they started jamming and doing long trippy sections , even Hendrix and the Dead were doing short songs , LIVE they were doing extended versions , I think with this song it meant to be a "Climbing " song , which would be hard to do with long solos . But YOU are Absolutely Rite , it would be Great to do it the Way You Outlined ! ( Best trippy Instro in 66 wuz by of all bands Paul Butterfield - "East West " ) Sure You've heard it , but if not Check it Out .

Wow! I was not going to watch saying to myself, "Self, nobody can match Grace's performance of this song because Grace WAS this song". Then comes Cathy Richardson to blow me out of the water with this passionate performance! Not Grace, but still Sublime!!

With the Matrix 4 trailer I was so happy to get this song featured. Incredible performance, Cathy. You have an own and personal tune/variant here and can compete with Grace, incredible.

Excellent. Her very real voice, by the way. Cathy sang the Janis Joplin role with Big Brother & The Holding Company, then switched to Starship, where she sang the Grace Slick role. I may have met Cathy at Aroma Cafe in Marin. BBHC co-founder Sam Andrew used to spend mornings there by the front window painting. Janis Joplin and Grace Slick were extremely important voices in music during the 1960s. Cathy had the pleasure - and responsibility - of singing their music. Can't think of anybody else right now who has done that.
