You're blessed you had the chance to tell him u loved him one last time - so many only hear when loved ones pass away over the phone and rue not having a chance to say something...i was similarly blessed - we celebrated our mom's 90th at the retirement home - the 'home' was having an open house then and had a piano player, balloons, a real party atmosphere - you would have thought the whole thing was arranged for her - best 'b' day ever! - a week later she was gone...

When this was a hit September 1975, I had just returned from a 13 month tour on Okinawa at Camp Foster. I was driving down the WV Turnpike and was heading to Camp LeJeune, when I heard this song. I said SCREW IT I'm going UA aka AWOL, and quitting the Marine Corps. I had two more years left on my 4 year contract. But I stayed in and made Sergeant 8 months before I was discharged. I was offered Ssgt if I'd go to Admin Chief School and pass the course. Then be the Admin Chief of a small Company. I thought hard but decided to get out after 4 years, and let my hair. Stay in the Corps it's a great profession. Semper Fi from an old Marine Sergeant.

I love this song, but it’s not a song I would want to listen to with my mom. My wife, yeah. But not my mom, or my daughter for that matter. “I had a taste of the world *didn’t waste a drop of it*, when I went down on you, girl”. Agreed. Although the current days also bring some wonderful things, like KZbin.... No need anymore to be nice to certain people to get the OK to go through their records for example. And the possibilities to make tremendous discoveries, such as all the (great or not so great) records bands made that were once famous but faded out into oblivion, got ignored in favour of a new hip sound etc.... But yes, life was "simpler" and more social. People in the buses and trains still spoke with each other etc. Some progress, some regress etc

Recently while at work, the topic came up of another Jefferson Starship song. I said that my favorite song my them is "Miracles." One of my younger co-workers said, "I never heard of it." I told him to look it up on KZbin. He did and as soon as this song started playing, tears were flowing down his cheeks. I said, what's wrong. And he said that this was his father's favorite song that he played all of the times when he was a little boy. He was extremely close to his father, who died suddenly five years ago. He thanked me for leading him to this song, as he now knows the name and loves his Father's favorite song.... What a surreal moment!

My Mom just sent this to me, saying how listening makes her feel like my Dad is still RIGHT THERE with her. We kissed him goodbye in June. (Also Hospice). Music is this amazing and powerful force for good in this world. It hurts sometimes when it washes these feelings over your entire being, but bittersweet still has sweetness. ❤️Love and light to all who feel sad. I believe you will one day feel the presence of your loved ones again.

My beloved Mother passed last week. My sisters n I did her hospice care at home. She had Alzheimer’s n we took care of her full time for 2 1/2 years. We we determined that she would stay with us. We kept our promise n We walked her home. 💝✨💝 I’m still kinda numb. I grieve alone because I can’t when others are around. I’m glad she’s no longer suffering from that wretched illness known as Alzheimer’s. I know she’s been reunited with all of her loved ones. Although she didn’t know who we were for those 2 1/2 years, I believe she knew who were were during the last couple days she was with us. We told her it was ok to go. We told her there’d be a glorious reunion. We played beautiful music n we held her hand as she took her last breath n was born into heaven. Thanks for reading this. I think it just hit me that she’s gone. I’m gonna go n grieve now n it’s okay. Reading your beautiful comments inspired me to go deep. It’s the first time I’ve allowed myself to do that since her transition. Thank you. 💝🌎💝

It's one of those songs that - when it would come on - the sound was like the best food or drink you'd ever tasted, and you make that audible "ahhhhh" sound as it washed over you so you'd kick back and savor it. Like the moment whiskey finally hits the tummy and the warmth spreads over you.. Like being in total love and dancing in the moonlight on a warm Summer night. Gawd how I love this song. I'm not the most romantic woman in the world, but this song sure made me see things differently while it played

When this song came out, I had started dating my future wife. Even though neither one of us at the time ever expected to get married, we did. We adopted this song as "our song" as the lyrics had such special meaning to both of us at that time. Forty- two years later, we are still married and "Miracles" sounds as fresh today (SEP 30 our anniversary) as it did when we first heard it together back in Kankakee, IL. Miracles and Memories intertwined over a lifetime.

For my money this is the most beautiful, most sensual love song ever written, and performed. Unambiguously sexual without being even remotely obscene, yet seeing sexuality as only a piece of a much greater whole, if you ever wanted a recipe for true love in the form of a song this one is it. We have Marty Balin to thank for it. He wrote it and that's his sweet voice you hear singing it. What a magnificent piece of work.

You sound like my eldest grandkid. She and her siblings (if they show an interest like she does) stand to inherit around 10,000 or so albums and cassettes from me (about a quarter of which came from my own parents). When I was young (80s into 90s) I was an honorary roadie for so so SO many bands (because I had a vehicle and valid driver's license, knew how to do stage hair and makeup if necessary) in NYC/NJ. I attended both USFestivals in CA: Crazy Times. Music was my LIFE. My children didn't have TV, but they had their own stereo systems to listen to tunes... Yeah. We old farts DO go on, don't we? ha ha TY for listening/reading. One way to find good music is to hear the background music vs dialogue in a lot of shows/movies. A friend in the UK had also turned me onto some really fantastic music, outside the US bubble. Have you tried Khruangbin (live at the Pitchfork) and if you like older music that sounds fresh, Mother Sky by Can is groovy as is Vitamin C. Oh, and there's an entire album by the Sound Defects, Iron Horse. I think you will thoroughly enjoy both of those. I'd provide links, but it might get flagged. Let me know how it goes! x

If we could only time travel back to the days of our youth, when songs like this made us believe in 'miracles,' and accomplish 10% of the dreams we had for ourselves, the world would be a better place. Bands and songs don't exist like this today; they're passing into the sands of time, leaving us left with remnants of what once was. Too bad our children couldn't have experienced the peace, serenity, and exhilaration of the 70s. I'm thankful for the art these musicians gave us.

Music lost its innocense of purity when it became strictly about selling labels not 'performing arts,' words only, actions belied otherwise intents. Rather money took precedence and the music industry polluted in defiled the artist themselves. Controlled them with drugs and literally destroyed many talented performers by sullying their artistry. Used them, reduced everything down to making money, killed their souls within them long before the body died.

I didn't stay in touch with so many wonderful people I knew throughout the years, & I do regret this. Some people, Irem, you will need to remove from your life. You WILL turn around someday, & you'll be 60-years-old, & you'll wonder: "HOW THE HELL DID I GET HERE?!?" "Is this my beautiful house?" "Is this my beautiful wife?" (LOL! A reference from an old Talking Heads song.) Anyway, do TRY to stay in touch with the worthy people who WILL come in, & out of your life. Some will seem completely uninterested. But, don't let that discourage you. When y'all both get older, they will be thrilled, that you're still around. You have a huge advantage over my generation. For staying connected with people. Because of WiFi. Try to remember this: People will lose touch with old friends, & FAMILY! When things are going poorly in their lives. We get embarrassed, & don't want anyone to know what happened. Just let the worthy friends know that you don't care what they did. That YOU just would like to stay in touch with them. Don't let FEAR of change keep you from traveling, or moving to NEW places.
