I didn't care much for the mid-80s "Jefferson Starship" or whatever, but I'd forgotten about this tune. I was elsewhere listening to it and remembered there had been a video. About 40-41 years ago now. I forgot that David Freiburg and Pete Sears were on this, too, which really helped me handle the high vocals from a man.

He had all kinds of excuses. Then I learn perry's technique. He changed his tune pretty quick when I'd blow past his B for another octave plus breaking his eardrums.

I saw Jefferson Starship the summer of 1982 on Pier 86 in Manhattan. The loudest show I've ever heard. Looked like two five story buildings of speakers on either side of the stage. Awesome.

Not sure why it wasn't a big hit. It reached #29 on the Billboard Hot 100. My theory about why classic rock stations won't play this is that the later pop songs performed by Starship after Paul Kantner left tarnished the band's image and made them damaged goods as far as the classic rock community was concerned.

This song made me reconcile with my savior and lord Jesus Christ. I know it wasn't the intention of the song, but I felt the calling, after almost 10 years being an atheist. God is good.
