No, what killed real rock music was the bands that came after Nirvana and Pearl Jam. Those bands were pretty solid and waaaaaay better than this stuff. Having said that, I did enjoy this groups pre-1987 stuff. Anything from 1987 onward was totally godawful generic.

Don't feel bad....this song did advance into the Top 40 in 1989, but on the power of airplay it got in certain parts of the country...I can tell you that in Philadelphia, this song never came close to gracing the Top 40 stations at that time. I, too, did not discover this powerhouse of a ballad until many years after its release.

I wonder if STARSHIP was trying to harden themselves up to adjust to the times?? It feels like they really those pop-metal power-ballad as a template. That is why this song sounds so good . By the way,i think Love Among The Cannibals is the best Starship era album,by a lot. The production was top notch.

The 80’s was the era that the band’s members actually played their own instruments!!! And the music they made of actually listenable…including tracks on their CD’s that never got air play! I’ve loved this band since they were Jefferson Starship before Mickey Thomas joined the band…but I have to say, when he did the band was raised up to incredible heights because of his powerful voice!!

Great song from 1989. 70's and 80's was the golden era, the best for Rock and Pop music. Mickey Thomas, fine voice on lead vocals, is still looking cool and handsome, not long before he got his face rearranged by Donny Baldwin, the Starship drummer. A savage assault. You should still be ashamed of yourself Donny Baldwin!

Chicks in spandex were awesome though, but when they'd walk out of the Ladies Room the cloud of hairspray behind them could make us cough lol.
