I have been listening to this talk for the past week. I think I am going on 5 times and have shared it with my circle of friends which includes newly baptized members, investigators in the church, people in jail, folks that are not active and Elder's Quorum President. Me? It is a year now that I have been back in the church in activity after 4 decades of inactivity. I am so grateful that God decided to not give up on me.

I think this subject is really interesting, and I love Elder Holland's insights. Something I want to work on is more constant and conscious gratitude, because when you're truly grateful, you don't have time to mope and complain about things, but see with a positive perspective all the good things in life :)

When you seek answers from the Book of Mormon instead of the Bible, God can't help you because you have turned your back on Him. Therefore this leaves the door open for Satan (II Corinthians 11:14-15) to step into your life with a false christ or prophet showing you signs and wonders to lead you away from the real Jesus of the Bible who is God the Son 2nd person of the Trinity. God Himself warns us about this in MATTHEW 24:23-24 "Then if anyone says to you, Look, here is the Christ! or There! do not believe it. For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect..." Mormons teach and believe that their jesus is the brother of Satan, which contradicts what God says in His Bible that Jesus is God the Son 2nd person of the Trinity. So Mormons, which Jesus do you believe in? A). Your jesus of the Book of Mormon who is the brother of Satan. OR B). The Jesus of the Bible who is God the Son 2nd person of the Trinity.

Nephi is a great example of happiness. And yet, he stated that his tears wet his pillow at night. A man who cried himself to sleep. And he was happy. Jesus was a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief. He has known every sorrow that can be known, and experienced them. And He is the ultimate example of happiness. And He experienced every sorrow, every sin, every pain, every problem. Service to others is the answer. Relieving sorrows is the key to happiness.

Jeffery R Holland helps me miss Thomas S Monson a little less. Their talks are so comforting. My favorite memory of General Conference as a kid was LeGrand Richards, he still seems to talk in one big breath and seems like such a kind man. "Call nothing thine except thy soul. Love not what thou art only what thou may become. Do not pursue pleasure, for thou mayest have the mis fortune to overtake it." -Man of La Mancha

To live with Jesus is to believe in Him, He is all we need, He created His covenant with us as He sacrificed himself on the cross, He is sufficient, NOTHING else is needed, he is our high Priest and mediator, this is where you will find your happiness.

I love this talk so very much. What is so fascinating to me is that Elder Holland is essentially saying that we need to not only have the goal of being happy, but to do the things that lead us towards happiness. And somewhere along the lines, as we continue to do happy things, we’ll begin to think as happy people do, too.

carolyn u r so lucky to be able to say that your life is a joy to u! I don’t mean to complain please note, but I am very glad to have a had a chance to live on this earth! unfortunatley i’ve had a very difficult life, much of it has been my own fault! Carolyn u must be a very obedient woman, because that is what brings joy and peace! i know this now, but still have not been able to achieve this goal! It is a hit and miss prospect! During all this time i have not ever lost my strong testimony of this great gospel! oh how i want to be like u Carolyn! i will keep shooting for this goal, no matter what, for one by listening and following the advice of this great man and others of his ilk! I love these men “ prophets seers and revelators “. to be able to really follow their examples is what i desperately want. Because of decisions made early in my life i’ve made it very hard to really be happy. But i will keep trudging on, with an eye to his glory, for i want to live after the manner of happiness, by listening and obeying these men whom God has chosen!

We are the church of Jesus Christ. Christian isn't enough to express our tilte. We are in His fold. I'm sorry for you. I know members can be mean and other times selfish. I've been told, "I don't think you belong here." But, I couldn't turn away from the light of Christ. I pray that although you have left, Heavenly Father, His Son, and the holy ghost remain in your heart. You decide your happiness.
