TV, Laptop or car, Best Practices work. What do I mean? Confirm the complaint, next do some simple checks while getting a lay of the circuit(s). Do a good visual as you may see the possible problem like signs or hot areas or discolored spots, replace the obvious but check to see if the problem is still there and confirm the part you removed is good or bad. This helps with confidence to move forward as you said, “Something made the fuse open”. Follow the circuit, simple quick test as the DMM on diode setting produces some voltage as diodes have a 0.7 volt drop. The mosfet is used as a switch & 95% are “N” channel type. If the numbers can be read, chances are you can find it or specs to help get a different brand. If in doubt, always go slightly bigger in amps, voltage or both. I miss the days the diagrams was on paper and under the back cover. At least many print it on the PC board. Nicely done.

@@nhozdien5058 yep! those were the symptoms on mine too. I think the noise comes from something vibrating on the main circuit board when that power rail goes into short circuit. Respect... I buy monitors from warranty providers with various issues and wish I had your skills... I fix many just by reseating connectors or cleaning... White screen is usually a no go for me... I've had a few Asus with no power and some with a wavy led back light mostly on whiter colors. Screen is fine just back light slightly pulses like a car lights with a bad alternator. Any ideas? Thanks

Flickering backlighting is LED's that are failing.

Hey Jeff, I have the same Asus monitor as yours but my problem isn't a white screen. Instead the screen is very very dim to almost no display when I turn it on. Is it probably caused by the shorted MOSFET or any idea on how to fix a very dim LCD monitor?
@jeffescortlx2 жыл бұрын
Probably has nothing to do with the mosfet. Check the back lighting LEDs.

Hi I have an LG 240hz display that has the same brand of panel, so the same kind of T-CON board (27m14-c05) and it has this issue. The fuse on 12v was never blown and still reads just okay but the same q308 mosfet is the problem causing shorts to ground. I have changed out the damaged 12h34 for a A09T like in the video, once its removed all shorts are gone but when the display is turned on the mosfet suffers a drain + source short and blows, with the white screen problem repeating itself. I've tested the blown mosfets after removing them and the gate doesnt have a short, just the drain and source. I also tested other components around the P303-19 for shorts or damage but everything seems to be reading just fine so I dont know why it keeps on blowing. i also have tested the monitor mainboard without the panel connected and the 12 volts reads good. may I need to try a different type of mosfet? and do you have any recommendation? thank you

It's possible the MOSFET's you have are counterfeit.

@@romano8036 Digi-key, mouser or newark should have something compatible stocked in the US. You want a around a 5 amp mosfet. a .22a will blow instantly. I believe I found a ebay seller of the AO3400 that shipped fast.

Can the transistor short out even though the fuse is still good?

It's possible, if something else in the line acted as the fuse, or if for some reason the conditions are right and the power supply can't make enough power to blow the fuse. Check the transistor with diode mode on a DMM and see if it's fishy.
