That knuckle thing is mind blowing to me. I played baseball as an in-shape freshman in highschool and I got into softball as an out of shape 24 year old. It’s amazing the things you can forget and the things you learn

I had to leave a comment. Earlier tonight I tried this style of holding the bat and let me just say! I SMASHED one out of the park on my second time up to bat during the game!! I’ve played many games before hand and never hit a homer this was a major boost to my overall performance as usually I’m a base hitter. Now I have this in my locker it’s ON!! Great tips thank you Jeff

Lining your knuckles up on your grip is great advice for any young hitter regardless if you’re playing baseball or softball/slow pitch. It’s a very simple tip but it helped me out tremendously at the plate.

In 3 minutes, he gets to the point. Bites, teeth and meat. Line up knuckles, shows you how to swing. I've let go with right hand in batting practice, surprisingly ball still moves and rides over infield. Well done video. Not 20 minutes of a guy who likes hearing himself talk.
@Graniteball7 жыл бұрын
I don't hit like Jeff. Not many do but the knuckles lining up rule is really just to ensure the bat stays in your fingers and not in your palms. A softer grip on the bat will increase bat speed and fluidity through the swing. It's an old little league that coaches taught but few understood.
@jlmathis39 жыл бұрын
But will this grip and follow through work for only power hitters ?

Crazy how little people know about knuckle alignment before this video. Even with myself I remember my baseball coach telling me to line my knuckles up when I was about 10, and he pulled me adidas’s to tell me this. It wasn’t a large group teaching. My guess is our coaches think we already know the secret sauce of knuckle alignment

When I was a freshman in HS I learned to swing a bat from a training film by Jimmie Foxx If you don't know who he is go and find out. The year Babe Ruth hit 60 HR he finished the year with 58 HR. He had several rain outs with HR they did not count. He was several years behind Babe Ruth and was the second player to hit 500 HR, he retired with 534 HR To make a long story short I loved to play football and baseball never liked to watch it. About 5 years a go on youtube stuff pops up and a pro-game was on I said to myself these guys don't even know how to swing a bat, I then over the next several years when looking for the guy that taught me as I did not remember his name.I finally went back 100 years one day I am watching old film the camera was behind the batters R shoulder with about 25% of the swing before the camera cuts "THATS HIM" I now had an era I just had to find out who he is it took me awhile but I did. One of his contempary's said of him he could tell when Jimmie was at bat with his eyes closed as he hit the ball harder then any one else. The formula for kinetic energy is "1/2 the mass times the volosity squared". If you are just standing there and swing the bat you will feel the bat trying to go endow out of your hands when the bat continues on it will feel like it is going to take the back of your head off, it won't. The other part is just step into the ball you don't have to be Elvis. I showed it to some girls this spring just standing there, one of the grils yelled out "SHIT that looks like a helicopter". Last year and this year I have tried to get little league coach's to let me teach it to them to pass it on, no interest. I live in Portland Oregon. what a shame. Don

it is mostly all bat if you have any strength and good follow through home runs come easy even on 320 fields but you will need more size to achieve 400 distance , 30 years ago these bats didn't exist
@nyr367 жыл бұрын
Everything you're saying is 10000% wrong. Best bat ever made was like 20 years ago lol. And its extremely hard to hit the ball over 300 feet. And it's not bat at all. It's all technique. You're probably dropping bombs on 250' fences in co'ed thinking you're actually the shit.
@bradsmith67565 жыл бұрын
You're both correct, it depends on bats whether you use ASA, NSA USSSA, bats. NSA bats will hit harder and farther than ASA. If you have a great swing, bat speed, shifting your weight and hand grip you will hit the ball a lot farther as well. 300 ft is not that hard to hit a ball out though even with ASA bats.

Knocking knuckles! Line them up! I am trying to teach my little league kids this and they do not do it...
@charleyjclark2 жыл бұрын
Because you shouldn’t be teaching them this, it can feel unnatural to them. Top hand door knocker knuckles can line up anywhere between the bottom door knocker and punching knuckles. Forcing a specific grip can ruin someone’s natural swing
