Hi JEFF Nice Video. Never knew that was a "Slick" and how it was used. And we just don't stop learning, even if it's Wood Working, which we do some of on our Knife handles. Thanks for showing and sharing. Looking forward to the final Honing and Finish to get it Razor sharp !! ATB aRM

Recognized the thumbnail from your forestry forum post. I'm not a member, just a guy teaching himself timber framing the hard way. Found your post looking for old knowledge for the bevel angle for a slick as I just received the 3" Witherby that I stole off of ebay. The edge isn't square but at least the bevel is close to 25*. Thanks for the video!

Thanks for watching. I have found, over the years, that most of the timber framing (actually, all) chisels have all been mistreated, and have incorrect, poorly ground bevels. This is the quickest way I know to get it re-ground true. Remember to quench in water often to keep it cool, especially when you get it close, and the edge is thin.

Jeff, I have absolutely no room at present for a work shop, BUT, I hope to either build or buy a good shed (maybe shipping container) to set up a bench with drill press, metal lathe, table saw (even if I have to build one myself) and if room allows a joiner. Then I woke up but hey, I still want to have a place I can make chips and saw dust. I love that slick you have and going to watch at the flea market this year for some tools like that. Thanks for the videos and looking forward to more, Greg.

They are, but not in the capacity of making quality woodworking tools. They make electrician's tools, and other stuff.....not sure of the origin anymore.
