I spent a summer in Clearwater with a friend of mine (Freddy Retro) who was living down there at the time and he introduced me to Rick along with a bunch of other guys my he knew (Praying Mantis, Keith Berry at Diamond Dolls, and a bunch of people in Ybor) during Guavaween. For anyone that doesnt know, Ybor during Guavaween was unreal. Props to the Tampa Breaks scene

Hell, Ybor city without guavaween, (back in Ybors heyday was unreal, but the bottle clubs and strip clubs like f.ranch that were bumping till 9am or later.

I got the pleasure to hang with this fellow about 98ish back stage at a party. We were just chilling kinda shooting the shiot, then he jumped up and said oh shoit I am supposed to go on now! I didn't even know he was a DJ before he said that. He was just a regular nice guy until he hit the decks and got the place bumpin. He was in his element behind the decks and knew his records (and all others it seemed) backwards and forwards. You could always ask him about a track even if you could only do a really bad imitation of the beat or vocals....An expert and a TRUE Pioneer of the 90s and 00s scene. You will never be forgotten!

well get a huge external harddriive and install Soulseek... It's almost sickening to see how much old breaks cd's and mixes are on there. it kind of bums me out that I've collected so much as this point I know I'll pass on before I'll be able to respectfully listen to everything. Some real gems are the Rick West Flavored cassette mixtapes. Pre-dates the Flavored beats series. Probably my most favorite mixes as these are right on 95-97 mostly and a HUGE amount of songs that just didn't get much play by 98-99 and are almost lost in time.
