After watching your videos I started drawing my own creations on chipboard because I like the durability and the toned surface of it so I've been scouring for all my old sketchbooks so that I can use the backing of them.

haha. I know, right? Sometimes being cheap pays off. You can find some good painting surfaces by trying to save a buck ;-)

I love watching your videos! I just realized that the angle you shoot with makes me feel like I'm watching you create but watching over your shoulder from the same space. I think that really helps with showing your process, fantastic job.

Great video, Jeff! In college, we had to familiarize ourselves with the terminology in anatomy, which may have taken away from learning gesture, so I found that figure drawing alone helped me to learn gesture as far as I could take it (which I still struggle with today - there's no way I could have done this in an hour!) And isn't it amazing what you could come up with just starting a piece without a plan? Great stuff! And great use of same-value complimentary colors!!

I like the attention to detail. it is way beyond beginner level. Really dig your videos. Keep on truckin' brothu'. I do agree that the scriptliner brush is better than using other tools to accomplish what it is you see. Something about multiple scriptliner detail that makes a painting pop in abstract liner impression stuff. I dig it.

Hi Jeff You are a real fantastic artist ; Since i Saw you work on differents chipboard, I work on this material, I like it, it's really a pleasure for me to paint on it, and with your explanations the work became really easier. Thank you very much. (excuse my bad english, but I need grammar and vococbulary)

I so love your tutorial videos. They're so inspirational. I did have a bit of a process question, though. I know you're a big user of the white prismacolor pencil, which I appreciate and use a fair bit myself. My question is, when doing a color sketch like this, do you find it helpful to expand on the pencil crayon palette? I've tried it a bit myself and often worry I'm overpowering the paint with too many colors, so how would you say an illustrator like yourself would decide for a project like this? Would you prefer to play with the paint palette and keep the color pencils down to highlights, or would you rather use the pencil crayons as more complex finishing tools, using a range of colors like you would paint? Also, just as a shop question, do you have other brands of pencil crayons you like using? I've been using watercolor pencils for a while now, but I'm always curious to hear other people's material preferences.

Hi, Tristan. Whenever I do these mixed media "sketches" in a sketchbook, they are not for a client. They are drawings for fans who have bought my book and paid to have me put a sketch on the inside cover. I never use colored pencils in my paintings for clients. I only use them when I am doing fun sketches. Every once in a while I may use additional colors with the pencils, but I mostly stick to paint and ink. As for brand, I use Prismacolor because it's what I have on hand. Again, I don't do a lot of colored pencil work, so it takes me a long time to go through my pencils and therefore I don't really experiment with other brands. Thanks for the great questions.

Is that the sketchbook I won? I still haven't received it so I figured it either got lost or you haven't had time to send it. Anyway good video. I did download your FAW through Gumroad. Holy Buckets that was a ton of info. Thanks for sharing.

Hi, Mike. I actually never got a reply from you when I messaged you. I would need your address. The sketchbook you won actually did not come with a drawing in it. Just a signed sketchbook. But I still have it for you. I just need your address. So send it to me privately.

I'm begging you, PLEEEEEEEZZEE!! Make something with macaroni & glue, then paint it up and use glitter on it!! I know that you'd be able to do it in a way that would be totally sculptural and completely legitimate in a fine art (not crafty) sort of way! C'mon, please?!!?

I love your videos but every one of your drawings look the same and everything is brown and green, and although it's just a sketch, it's sometimes months between each one of your videos
@jeffmiracolaartist8 жыл бұрын
I love brown. I love green. And it's months between videos because I have a lot of paid client work that needs to get done. I shoot the videos for fun, but they don't pay the bills. If you want to see a more comprehensive video, I spent 6 months making a 4-disc DVD set about my acrylic painting process (another reason I wasn't uploading as regularly to my YT channel). If that's something that interests you, consider buying it. It's only $40 :-) It can be found here: www.threepointspublishing.com/product/fantasy-art-workshop-acrylic-painting-technique-dvd/

+jeffmiracola thank you for replying Jeff, I just wanted to see some different designs such as robots/mech or a super hero type character.. Or even one of your characters in a steam punk fashion (I'm a fan of Sci-fi) but mainly just a change of colour

i love your videos but i hate your videos.... SMH
@jeffmiracolaartist8 жыл бұрын
I do all that kind of stuff and I even use more colors than brown and green, but I don't have the time to film every piece of art I create. The way I film, with editing, voice-over, music, etc., takes a lot of time to produce each video. I wish I could film everything I do, but I can't. Thanks for watching.
