Looks like good quality grout and easy to apply. I usually use tec power grout, I really like that.

Haven’t tried that yet, this was super easy to use. Having the color packets is great for multiple colored grouts in one bathroom

It’s tough to keep the grout out of the horizontal sill joints that you use the silicone caulk. Did you guys just spread the grout and then remove the grout on that sill/inch wall joint before sponging and then fill w caulk? If so did you just use a putty knife to remove? I’m using Laticrete Spectralock Pro so don’t want any delays on technique ( or lack thereof). BTW Thanks for the previous tips on Spectralock. My bathroom floor and shower floor turned out awesome. Now on to the shower walls and niche.

Nice job. Been working up the courage to use laticrete spectralock. I heard a bunch of good things about it through floor elf. I will have to do small batches and work quickly!

That's another great grout. We used it for a different shower and liked how easy it was to use. Definitely working in small batches helps a lot and takes the fear out of working with epoxy grout. We have a video and written tutorial sharing some tips, here's the link www.homerepairtutor.com/how-to-grout-tile-with-spectralock-epoxy/

Why didn’t you use epoxy grout this time? What do you like better. Laticrete or Fusion Pro?

Great videos by the way.

It's a movement/expansion joint needed?

Why not use 1 piece marble or similar material for sill and leave a little proud for drip ledge and larger shelf?
@HomeRepairTutor6 жыл бұрын
Certainly a good option but marble can discolor or stain. We also wanted to keep costs down and using the same subway helped achieve that problem.

Did you use sanded or unsanded grout? My niche has glass mosaics/bullnose schluter outlining the whole niche face (not interior of niche) that are pretty much 1/16 spaced. Should I use unsanded for glass mosaic and small widths and sanded for rest of shower (1/8 inch spaces)? I can send you pictures if you want.

Why use caulking on that lower sill joint? It shouldn't crack there, if it does then there is something wrong with how it was framed and/or prepped for tile.

Those color packs dissolve in water, you know. Just drop them in!
