I highly recommend Jeff as a teacher! Amazingly prepared, both in terms of playing, material and technology to create a remote lesson, asks the right questions, finds the right material tailored to your goals, explains really well and generally creates a really nice environment.

Dude this was so helpful. I have my first gig with another band tomorrow night and although I’m pretty experienced I never was a solo type of drummer. And they WANT a solo as our closing song and I was freaking out about it lol. This is super helpful!
@ronsissons89949 ай бұрын
So how did it go? I have a similar situation coming up in a couple weeks.
@thefaeking9 ай бұрын
@ronsissons8994 it went great! I don't do them often (just a me thing I guess) but messing around with this and changing it up or traveling around the kit using call and response really helped! I've done it a few times over the last few gigs I've played and it went great. You got this!
@ronsissons89949 ай бұрын
@@thefaeking Right on! Yeah, I am not great at improvising around the kit for slo type stuff. I more of a locked time keeper\pocket player. Glad it went well. This should help.
@thefaeking9 ай бұрын
@@ronsissons8994 yes just let it go! It’s hard to, and I still sound disorganized at times when I get too confident in my solo abilities LOL but it’s all a learning process and playing with timing. You’re already good at the pocket so time to learn how to break those rules tastefully! You got this

Thanks for this! Great reminder to keep a theme and not have to chop out the whole way through a solo. I get overwhelmed if that moment comes up for a drum solo to try to throw too much fire (that I don't have) and then my mind goes blank when coming up with ideas. Good advice here!
