Well come to find out I've fooled myself into believing I was a soprano all of my choir years, only to realize this week I am much closer to this and alto range. Go figure, singing is suddenly so much easier to actually hit a note when you know what notes you can really hit. Pretty sure my teacher knew too and just didn't want to burst my bubble. 😆 wonderful video, thank you for sharing. (Even if I am only finding it 2 years late)

Sure! There's going to be a lot of overlap but the exercises won't be done considering where the registration events are - so some exercises may be a bit trickier than others, while some may be easier. Jeff

do you have any videos of performing a trill as in classical singing?
@katterek2 жыл бұрын
Love your excersizes but I find one of the last ones in this particular video where all of a sudden chords kick in a little bit confusing - any chance you can make a video that breaks down how to sing melodies over different chord patterns for beginners? i would very much appreciate that!! also thank you for providing awesome lessons!

am a chronic asthmatic in grade two classical singing. will it be possible to breathe deeply in singing? teacher says breath suport can take four years. your videos are incredibly helpful.
@JeffRolka6 жыл бұрын
Breath support in singing is more about how you orient your body rather than the volume of air you can inhale. I don't know the specific details of your asthma, so it's hard for me to say how deeply you'll breathe, but I imagine you would still be able to orient your body such that you can apply good engagement. Best, Jeff
@marilynlong77276 жыл бұрын
thank you for your reply. not sure what you mean in orienting body. am going to be learning about placement resonance and vibrato. love your videos!

when you say 1234 1234 after palate cleanser do I hold the note for eight beats?
@JeffRolka6 жыл бұрын
That depends on how you're singing it. I am counting the time in between exercises in order to help you know exactly when you're meant to come in. If you wanted to sustain the last note that's fine, just be sure to leave yourself enough time to adequately take your breath and re-engage. Depending on your breathing coordination, this could require more or less time. Best, Jeff
@marilynlong77276 жыл бұрын
thank you so much for your reply. i have been counting eight beats after palate cleanser and nearly expiring! am a chronic asthmatic and beginner. your exercises are very helpful. have a singing teacher in Australia and in grade two doing classical ; learning two in German and one in French. have had one lesson in breath support. once again thank you once again. God bless.

I'm just chillin' in California these days. Travel plans largely cancelled. I listen to a fair amount of Ravel, Debussy, Max Richter the other day. Then I might go and do a bit of listening to Beatles tunes, though I recently got turned on to Declan McKenna. I've gone through many musical phases over the years. When I'm finally done for the evening I relax with a nice glass of home brew - Kombucha, that is. I brew my own Kombucha. Primarily ginger flavored in the second fermentation. There you go! Thanks for being here! Jeff

How are we supposed to go that fast if it’s a warm up. I literally cried
@JeffRolka2 жыл бұрын
To be fair, it is an agility warm up, but you can always use the gear to slow it down a bit until you get the hang of it, then do it again a tempo. No need to cry over these things, just be patient with yourself and try again.
