It's unfortunate that not every cigarette ad back in the day was deemed "Not For Broadcast".

Chesterfield was my uncle’s brand, we used to give him a carton for Christmas. He died of lung cancer, we didn’t know better

THANK YOU very much for uploading this bodacious "blast from the past" for us to enjoy ! Gotta admit....I had NEVER heard of this one season series til it was suggested to me by KZbin. I can see why it only lasted one season. Rather ho-hom & generic. And the lead doesn't have much charisma. One can tell it was produced by Jack Webb....the lead is rather wooden in his acting style, just as Webb was. But Whitney Blake gives a tour de force performance in this episode ! WOW ! I hope she won an Emmy for this performance ! CHEERS !

I believe this guy was a coach in a college basketball movie of the 70s with players with knee high socks and short shorts so you could see all their muscles. "all the way in with a red hot poker" was one of his lines... He was great in that film.

Chesterfield also sponsored the great aviation show Steve Canyon. That series, while unfortunately brief, was so well written and exciting to watch that I bought the dvd collection.

We used to give cigarettes for Christmas too because we didn’t know any better as well but a lot of older people had insurance for cancer policies my mother did and she passed away with cancer then they started colon emphysema COPD lung disease. My father passed with COPD. He also had a cancer policy and because it wasn’t in the notes that specified what type of lung cancer he had, we couldn’t collect on his policy, which I think was shitty. I think that was the doctors and the insurance companies getting together to stiff the older people after they paid all that money into the insurance company all them years and then to be told after my father passed that we couldn’t collect on his policy because it didn’t say cancer it said emphysema

Had to do a cursory search if this episode, if not the entire season, won an Emmy or two: Miss Whitney Blake was so stunning! Such a masterful dramatist! Pop Quiz: How many times did Shannon address Eve? How many times did Eve address Shannon?

Whitney Blake was marvelous, showing the signs of withdrawal & trying not to let them show. Remarkable performance since she delivered her lines to a man who couldn't say one line without sounding artificial & wooden. Good story but a couple of deep plot holes: If she needed her fix by 10:00PM, she wouldn't be able to finish many plays, and the way she started to shake at a quarter till would have kept he from being in any plays other than matinees. When Shannon said he didn't like a record she wanted to play, she wouldn't have even slowed down in her mission to get her fix. This show was pretty good, but I don't think I'll watch any more. John Compton just couldn't act.

Well said and well put. The leading man is awful. Only good thing about this episode was Whitney Blake's strong performance.

The actress who played the actress was quite a good actress -- Whitney Blake ("Hazel").

Always thought Whitney Blake was beautiful but never knew she was such a good actress. She probably gives the performance of a lifetime in this. John Compton, who was illegally good-looking himself, lets her do her thing while balancing her in stoic fashion.
