Thank you Jeff, I'm recovering from a broken belt, it is really hard to engage the blade & when I disengage, the blade continues to turn. I think it's just the actuator arm needs a little lubrication. My deck is this exact model, but a Craftsman - Painted black, It's great to see exactly where every hook, pin, plastic place & spring is connected! (Anybody can take something apart :) 5 starz and a small token paypal headed your way, Please use it for the benefit of your feathered friendz. (even if it's a deterrent to to those who would harm them)

Thanks friend. I would definitely service and lube the actuator pulley pivot point. When severely rusted, I have had to disassemble, sand and clean the bracket and bolt and spacer before.

Thanks Jeff. I have to change one of those Craftsman cables before spring gets here. Now I'm sure I can do it thanks to you.

I have a DLT 3000 that I believe that I bought from Sears in 2003 (new). They are good mowers. The one thing that I hate about them is that I have to replace deck mandrels about every three years (aluminum fatigue and they break). Over the years, I have had to replace a head gasket, a starter, and a gas line or two. Other than some pretty simple repair, changing the oil and filter, and keeping the deck cleaned off and all those moving deck parts shot with some WD-40, these mowers will do a great job.

good tips
@waynedoe24862 ай бұрын
Watching a number of these broken cable videos lead me to believe these are fatigue failures. Many flexes cause the cable to crack. Solution: engage the cable only once per day. If you come to a place where you would stop the blades from turning (loose rocks, etc.), just leave them turn and raise the deck to clear instead.

I did this same repair, just removed the fuel tank and lowered the deck, maybe an hour start to finish. Sprayed the pivot parts on the deck to free them up when I ordered the cable from Amazon (12$). Also had a frozen parking brake, that took longer LOL!

So I replaced mine with a new cable and belt..both were exact matches to the old ones. Now the clutch engagement lever needs about 2 inches in height to lock into the notch...any adjustments?

I have the same one stays inside no problems since 1981 except a Briggs valve adjustment every 3 or 4 years runs like a new one..
