I prefer Samsung Messages over Google. I went ahead and switched to Google to adapt to the changes coming. Since Samsung is removing RCS the features of their app need to be integrated correctly into Google. At the end of the day we're having to give up customization features that the phones are built around for daily use and convenience. If it was a rarely used app it wouldn't be as big a deal.
@lynneanderson4255Ай бұрын
Right! It's a heavily used app and the change is going to piss so many of their customers off, like me.

So samsung messaging currently has RCS but it's being removed? I'm still confused about all this. Especially since every time I've sent media through samsung messaging app the quality is always poor when it gets to the other end or i can't send a video cause the file is too large
@lynneanderson4255Ай бұрын
@@ANewEvilRising - No. Samsung messages uses SMS which is now too limited in this day and age. It appears that Samsung whose OS is Android is going to move to RCS. Since Android is developed by Google and Google is going to RCS, Samsung has little choice but to change too. Some people think this is a reason for Samsung to develop its own OS as Apple has done. At this point, that might be a major, if not impossible, challenge for Samsung.
@ANewEvilRisingАй бұрын
@lynneanderson4255 so really there's no choice but to switch to Google messaging app? If we stick with samsungs then what? Only downside is it will be very bare bones? That's not much of a issue at all for me who only sends text and that's it. Is security going to be an issue?

@@ANewEvilRising - Good question. I think the deal is Samsung's support for it will stop in January and there won't be anymore updates. I think. The biggest thing also is the copy function. You can't copy certain parts of your text. For instance, if you receive a tracking number and you just want to smart select that you can't. I think Google Messages does a great job and don't think that Samsung has privacy any better than google. 5:06

Apart from in the future them adding support to add in samsung notes, i use google apps over samsung stock apps. Google messages is quick, bigger files supported means no "message not sent file size too large"

Why would they remove RCS?

Over a decade i use Google messages as I'm use to the lay out customise the settings but over time the privacy. Issue is a big deal, having said that I started samsung messaging and found that it's useful efficient and customised such a dark mode integrated to calender and notes which make life bit more perfect for every day use. Yes I switched Samsung message

Bring message categories back to Google Messages and be able to use samsung emoji, also if I want to share photos or videos open up samsung gallery or give the the option as a default. Not everyone uses Google photos. I already shared with Samsung Members.

Wow never knew about categories. I've had my phone for 2 years and just learned this lol. I like that I can pin my most frequent contacts. Google didn't have that last time I checked.
@FreelancerSystemАй бұрын
I use google messages for how easy it is to setup and use. But I miss some of the power user features like organizing chats and pinning chats. RCS is just too important to have.

Only thing i can say Google messages had on Samsung messenger is RCS for high quality media. Now that they are getting rid of RCS I hope they figure something out for high quality media at least. Also they NEED a trash category. Ive deleted conversations by accident a few times and or deleted a convo only to realize i needed something out of that conversation. Its always nice to know its not immediate deleted with the trash category.

Hope they keep the share attachments from samsung, it was so easy to see who I sent attachments to when I click the contacts.

I used to use an app on an old phone called Messages+ and it had th3 ability to schedule when a message would be sent to someone so if I wanted to send something in the middle of the night I didn't have to send it right then and there. You can type something in and save it as a draft but that only lets you save a single message and you have to go back later and send it so if for some reason you're sleeping in really late the message won't be sent in the morning if you want it to be sent in the morning
@blongshanks77Ай бұрын
You can use the send later option now in Google message.

I moved to Google messages about 6 months ago. Does the job and works better than Samsung messages ever did without RCS.

I switched to Google messages when I got my S23 just for the reactions. Because on Samsung messages, when someone reacts, it came through as a text message. But I do miss the customization of Samsung messages.

A company as large as Samsung and Google can certainly create an amazing version of iMessage and FaceTime and put a swing on it to make it go viral and hip. Like the blue bubbles. Come up with a way to change bubble colors or make some other color popular. They have the. Budget for it.

Samsung lost out on the market of messaging when iMessages took over with the games the animations and such especially when a Samsung backed away from the customization of how messages look but if they would have implemented things like games video messaging and just an interactive UI in general it would have been much better

It hurts, but it all makes sense when you imagine that Samsung is probably being bullied by Google and Microsoft. This is the only way Samsung is able to preserve it's Western markets without being sanctioned and dragged. Very dirty tactics at play

I have a galaxy S22+ and until recently I was using Verizon message app which they shutdown. In my opinion was VZM was better than both. Now I am using google messages. I really do not like the lack of customization. It took me today to find out how to apply a specific notification sound to Google Messages. I have been trying to figure it out. It should not have taken this long. It wasn't straightforward. I loved the way Verizon allowed you to customize your background and message bubbles. It seems that Google has behind the scenes pressured both Verizon and Samsung into abandoning RCS.

How do you place your chosen apps into that widget with the background onto your home screen?!
@SalePetrovic87Ай бұрын
I'm happy I'm not from US, so as the entire rest of the world, I also don't care about RCS nor the thing Apple was doing with their messagin nor the Apple's support or RCS as in the rest of the world we mostly use alternatives like WhatsApp and the default messaging app is almost exclusively being used for SMS only. On the aesthetic side of the things, I mostly like the uniformity of the icons for the default apps and on Samsung at least those are quite good, so the first thing is that I'm not willing to break the aesthetic of my home screen by changing my default texint app to Google - and that's just the aesthetic side of the thing. Without the RCS being involved, Google Messages don't really have any other upside over regular texting and being outside the US, RCS is not really important as we have a lot of apps like WhatsApp that are mostly being used for the same purpose and it's not worse in any way (and if you bring up the privacy concerns, it's just a matter of which company you prefer to use your data, and it neither here or there). I guess the issue in the US is how most people just stick to default apps for some reason, despite of any other options and this is not so much the case in the rest of the world 🤷♂️ That said, I wouldn't have mind if the choose to integrate Google Messages somehow into the default Samsung Messages app (because the Samsung's app is simply so much better that I would consider it beyond any comparison - but here's this video, so I'll accept comparison is possible when you really try) 😉 Another thing is that I'm sick from even the idea of my regular text message being tied to any ecosystem - Apple fans might be ok with it, but I'm not and it's a part of the reasons why I'm not an Apple fan - in the same way I don't want my messages being captive by Google and their mess of attempt to have an ecosystem of some kind as well. So many apps and services are getting tossed out into the famous Google's graveyard when you just start to get used to them, that I'm not even planning to risk trying the Google Messages (having my important email depending on Google is already a risk big enough I'm having with a single company) - I did actually try it once by accident - they are now scamming Samsung users by showing there's an upgrade option for the app, where most people will just think it's a simple update without giving it a second thought, and it changes your default app to the Google one and it replaces the app on each screen or folder where it was saved, so for the average user it's not so simple to change it back... If they retire the Samsung Messages entirely, I will really check other options as I won't get stuck with Google's lesser app for sure... Also, although you typically need a Google account when using Android anyway, you could use Samsung Messages or basically any other texting app without the Google account, but the Google messages are more like the Gmail, so if there's any issue with Google servers or your Google account, you will likely be locked out of your Google messages as well, where with regular texting apps like Samsung Messages this is not the case...
@sprockketsАй бұрын
You can't be locked out of sms or rcs, but you might be right anyhow. Google is old enough to be the villan.
@GalaxyCurseАй бұрын
You said that Samsung is phasing out RCS in their messages app "in the US". Is it just the US or is it a worldwide thing? If just the US, is there any specific reasons for it? Regulations? Lawsuits? I mean, it seems like an odd thing to remove, unless they are going to replace it with something better.
@kimbalipsАй бұрын
I am not a fan of Google messages. I'm willing to forgo RCS to keep Samsung messages. I'm hoping Google or Samsung changes...or integrates features.
