After riding a rutted out sandy 3 palms today as someone who got back into motocross after 6 years people dont realize how fucking difficult riding on a track like that is and you make it look like butter The thing is with sand the faster you are the easier it is, but its hard to ride fast when you need to go slow 😂

Absolutely sick riding, railing some of those turns harder than I do in my dreams lol don't know what it is about KTM 2 strokes though they always sound like they are 1 lap away from blowing up 🤣maybe it's just me idk, especially off the gas in the braking zones I always hear all kinds of knocks, pings, rattles and the main bearings always sound like skateboard wheels lol
@leftyeh64952 ай бұрын
You're hearing the exhaust, and that's it. You might hear some chain slap or gear noise from the transmission, but I can guarantee if you hear the main bearings it's already blown apart... 🤣 If you're hearing stuff in the braking chop, I would bet it's all from the suspension and chain slap.
@sum1majik5982 ай бұрын
@@leftyeh6495 No, I know exactly what suspension and chain slap sound like, and also what noises the exhaust can make i'm talking SPECIFICALLY about engine noises, as a dirtbike mechanic for over 2 decades, I know exactly what i'm talking about having diagnoses endless top / bottom end rattles and knocks on 2 strokes and 4 strokes of all shapes and sizes! it is extremely common to be able to hear worn out main bearings in a 2 stroke, specifically in something like a KTM which uses very thin engine cases which could also explain why it's easier to hear noises from the engine on KTM 2 strokes!

Shred that thing! My cr 125 build is finishing up here I’m getting kinda excited ps. (Why are you running 50.1 is that normal for your bikes I’m curious)
@leftyeh64952 ай бұрын
KTM calls for 60:1 with Motorex or any quality ester based synthetic. I run Motul 800 with no issues. They do say to drop it to 40:1 with any sub-standard oil though.
@RyderVanEs2552 ай бұрын
50:1 might be too lean, i use 32:1 maybe try that for a video

Agreed, 50:1 probably fine for an average rider, but a pro rider wide open I the sand 40:1 or 32:1 much safer...
@leftyeh64952 ай бұрын
@@joebobby1184 adding more oil will make it more lean. They survive just fine on 50:1, because the oil pools in the crankcase to a point. There's always an oil bath down there. As to the lean condition, adding more main jet will fix that. (only so much room for fluid through a jet, so changing the oil-fuel mix also changes jet sizing for rich/lean.)

He has a Lectron Billetron 38 pro series installed. Which supposedly, if jetted properly make it feel fuel injected. The thing is, they don’t have any of the problems that a fuel injected bike has, like having to connect to a computer or phone to re jet it

How does the 2 stroke compare to the 4 stroke handling wise? I have never ridden a 4 stroke, lol
@danielmccarthy27682 ай бұрын
4 stroke are more planted but feel heavier, I would say the new fuel injected 2 strokes are better handling wise than the 4 strokes especially in tighter turns but it really depends on your riding style and level of skill best advise go ride a 4 stroke
@KMoney992192 ай бұрын
Yeah it’s not likely a 4 stroke will try to wheelie until 5th gear but they can be a little smoother and controllable in corners and ruts but they are heavier and and bulkier it really comes down to the rider tho the right rider could race a 125 against 450s and keep up but I suggest you ride a 4 stroke and really feel the difference

@leftyeh64952 ай бұрын
@@mcchoco1019 How come every rider that gets on a 300 will turn faster laps than they do on the 450? Dyno's do a poor job at capturing HP output from a 2t, and the feel of the reduced engine flywheel effect is huge. You flat out can't ride a 450 as fast and still hit the lines. (I've seen dyno's at the rear wheel that show a decent aftermarket head on a 250sx will be within 1hp of a stock 450sx, with roughly the same rpm range...)

@claytonservaty5952 ай бұрын
Bro I know Ktm calls for it, but I swear any fast guy needs to run 32:1 on a 2 smoke. You guys get those bearings waayyy hotter than the average rider and that extra oil will expand life of them. It is an opinion tho but just my 2 cents mate.
@leftyeh64952 ай бұрын
All that does is foul plugs and spooge everywhere. Quality ester based synthetics are fully capable of protecting the bearings. If you want your mind blown, most of the direct oil injection 2t out there run 100:1 at idle, and progress to 40:1 at full throttle. Only difference is they have oil lines feeding each bearing, while the bike motors count on their being a pool of oil buildup. This is why you typically run a bunch of extra oil the first tank of gas after a rebuild. Until you turn the bike upside down, it'll have a puddle of oil in the bottom end. Every one I've taken apart to do a top end on has plenty of residual in the bottom. My sled even has drain plugs to drain the quart + that can be built up in the bottom between rebuilds.
