I freaking loved this lesson!!!!!! I particularly dug the quartile harmony. You have discussed quartile harmony in other lessons and I really like how this can open up the jam to all sorts of interesting explorations. Thank you so much for this... and what a perfect song to demonstrate these concepts!! Bravo!

Great video, the fact that you have such great musical insight into such a spontaneous and improvisational song is impressive

I really like these ideas. Due to the pandemic I’ve been concentrating more on solo acoustic stuff and there’s a ton of stuff that would slice up a solo acoustic version in here.

I’ve often wondered listening to this song, who’s playing what between Jerry and Bob. I found this lesson VERY cool! This is one of my favorite songs of the dead! Thank you!

Hey Jeff. I always played the intro with two Emaj7 just with the first one played in the normal position like you are playing it,, then the A, then the Emaj7 again but, the C shaped inversion in the 4th fret? I love the way that one sounds but, I like yours too because it is certainly a little easier to play without having to nail that inversion at the right tempo..

Yes nice, but tone is unfortunately fuzzy for this song and the chords don’t really sound right. It’s missing some major chord fragments and doesn’t sound open. I love jazz and it’s a jazzy song but I think you’re trying too hard to turn it into a jazz chart.
