manufactured by Allmänna Svenska Elektriska Aktiebolaget (ASEA). The RC loco series are one of the first tyristor controlled electric locos. Still going strong. 💪🏻

The single seat in 1st class (both X2000 high speed train, and other SJ trains, as this one) is just wonderful.

Came here after seeing this train in one of your recent videos. I love that black livery and the old school look of the ribbed metal. Very classy. The seats also look like Ikea lounge chairs, which is so Swedish! haha

Thank you for sharing this. I have had a wonderful opportunity to travel twice in 2004/2005 on this - one in spring and one in winter, all the way from Stockholm Central to Narvik, both during the day and during the night using Scanrail pass. Amazing experience! I would do it again when i get the opportunity!

Kalmar Central reminds me very much of Luleå Central, both similar interior and amenities, though Luleå has no luggage storage. I travelled through Luleå a couple of times. That train at 2:08 is an X11 EMU, which you can see from its two double-leaf doors, where the X12 has one single-leaf door and the X14 has two single-leaf doors per car. You mentioned the Contessa trains in Växjö (8:42), and SJ actually used to operate X32 class Contessa trains on this Göteborg - Kalmar route for a short while, but this was highly criticized and promptly restored to Rc6+1980s stock.

The RC6 is similar to the RC4, which was the basis for Amtrak's AEM-7 locomotive that served the Boston-Washington DC corridor from the 1970s until a few years ago. They were a very reliable workhorse. Those Danish trains were demonstrated on Boston's commuter rail system in the 1990s. I never got a chance to ride one, but I did tour one when it was on display at one of Boston's main railroad stations.

Not Danish, Swedish.
@roxxma10 ай бұрын
@@jobroooo Apologies, I wasn't clear. I was referring to the ABB built DSB rubber ended DMUs featured in the video. There was a demonstration in the early 1990s where one was run on Boston's commuter rail system for a month or so.

I love the IC trains in Dalabanan (up to the mentioned Falun). Actually coaches vary and there are subtypes with different sorts of seats (the legacy Blue X coaches are IMO the best), BF7 is the "weird one" that carries the personnel but those seats are quasi 1st class. Once you get some SJ loyalty points and there is a bistro, complementary coffee! At the moment I would say these trains are the best bang for the buck, and the routes I take are not covered by the "snabbtåg" EMUs

Just a note, the Øresundtog also travels to Kalmar, as shows on the departure bostd at Kalmar. So its not just to Växjö :-) Btw before the toilet review you told about a strange seating layout but I couldn't see it, so what was it?
@Simon-Andersen10 ай бұрын
Only bays of 4 with the luggage racks rotated 90 degrees to follow the back of the seats, you don't see that very often anymore!

Nice video! When I grew up in Borlänge (close to Falun) me and family usually took the SJ Inter City service down to Stockholm every now and then. I have such great memories of these trains, I remember when the locomotive and the carriages was painted in the SJ blue delivery.

That Rc6 loco in the black with silver livery is one of my all time favourites. I really really really like it 😀

During the 90s the SJ trains were blue. I think that was more beautiful than the black. Before that thecolor was a redish brown.

Hi Simon, That is an awesome and beasty classic InterCity from SJ! I also like the black colours on the Locomotive ans the Carriages, That gives the classic train a really tough and strong look 😃 Sweden is the country for train geeks like us 😃 Great trip through Southern Sweden and you are the best Simon, Keep on moving Bro! By the way: Did you also spot that beautiful Swedish Lady with glasses and dark hair on the right at 7:02? 😁

You were not right about the inhabitants in Växjö. In the city there's about 70k and in the municipality it is 100k. Just like Kalmar is about 40k in the city but about 70k in the municipality.
