It's always seemed a little odd to me how much bling these mainly elderly men wear on their hands. I can't think of any male friends of mine that wear anything more than their wedding rings. I don't know if there's any significance to their jewelry wearing, but it could be viewed as being immodest by rank and file JWs. It's also a bit insensitive towards the poor brothers and sisters to be unnecessarily showing it off.

Oh, you haven't seen me yet. When I was in( starting from about 14/15 years old) you'd always catch me wearing my rings. In the beginning, I'd wear 4 mood rings with different animals on them. I'd have one my left ring, left index, right ring and right middle finger, but then later simplified to 2 rings; a normal gold one on my left ring finger and a golden one with an onyx stone on my right middle finger. Sometimes, I'd get the odd look from my best friend (ironically, he was the first to wake up), but for the most part, no one said anything. Second best decision I ever made was not becoming an unbaptised publisher or higher; if you don't join their ranks, you're untouchable.

Regarding the rings, my exJW friend writes about his past in Kazakhstan: My grandmother gave me a ring made to order for 11 grams of gold. I gave a public speech when those ring was on my hand. After that I got ostracized because of him. When I referred to a video where "Faithful discreet slave" was wearing such rings, they told me that they are anointed and live in the USA, where this is the norm. But we don't. And there have always been such excuses. "They can, we can't because... blablabla"

I'm actually surprised he's not wearing the usual gold cuff links I see so many GB members (and many CO's / DO's in times past) wear. I'll never forget the way our CO looked me up & down when I came to a meeting in my work clothes because I couldn't get off work in time to shower & dress up, and still see the opening talk. I am an HVAC technician (because the cult prevented me from going to college) and, as a result, have to work long days in the summer. It was all I could do to just be there. He looked at my boots, my uniform, and was hesitant to even shake my hand. Never worked a day in his life, yet there he stood in his $500 suit, silk tie, $100 shirt, nugget rings, and... Yes... Cuff links, all while I struggled to make a living, keep my job, and donate what scraps I could to the organization, apparently all to ensure he could dress like that. It was at that point that I started to question everything. It took 15 years, but thanks to the crooked actions of local elders, I finally got the courage to do my own outside research. 6 years later, I'm still very jaded, but free. ❤ Thanks to cuff links.

I don't think the jewelry that they wear is too extravagant. Their rings may be gold but the stones look simi precious to me. No diamonds or anything like that. What I would like to know is how much do they have in the bank? What stocks? What properties do they own and in what countries? That's what i would like to know. I think that their jewelry would be insignificant in comparison.

I left many years ago and now looking back...ugh...I just feel sorry for the sorry folks that are brainwashed...my mom in brainwashed and back in as well and it sucks.
