it's a talk on the marriage arrangement in the opinion and according to the rules of The Watchtower. As with funerals, these JW events are skewed around the Watchtower. That is what cults do. For example, there is a stigma attached to couples who don't get married in "kingdom hall" (JW church). As only couples in "good standing" may get married in a hall. So whenever couples elect to get married in an outdoor settings, the gossip mill starts with many assume the couple has committed some wrongdoing. I have seen the gossip get so out of control in one congregation, that an elder (the father of the wife-to-be) had to make an announcement that the couple "has decided to get married in an outdoor setting", in an attempt to stop the slander.

Pickeledcoconut please allow me to clarify. If the wedding or funeral is in a Jehovah's Witness kingdom hall then the format is exactly the same - that's not an opinion it's actually a Watchtower requirement. Personally, I have been to 22 Witness weddings, 3 of those have been in 3 other countries - they were all exactly the same. Every JW funeral I have attended has not celebrated the life of the dead as much as it celebrated the beliefs of The Watchtower.

It's considered a privilege to have your wedding in the Kingdom Hall. Afterward a reception follows that's full of dancing to all kind if music( whether rock/ classic/ or alternative rock) we do listen to other music you know. Some witness weddings are done outside as well or on beach. This is their special day you shouldn't be hating on this.
