Many years ago in a small congregation in Georgia a contrite young engaged couple confessed to the elders they were having "oral sex". The elders thought oral sex meant they were discussing sex before marriage. So they said there is nothing wrong with oral sex. You should have a l0t of oral sex before marriage so as to understand the wedding night. The young couple was thrilled to not have committed a sin before Jehovah. They went on with a lot of oral sex and had a huge wedding in the Kingdom Hall. So you see it is all in how men define matters in the organization.

7:42 Thank you for this video! I'd like to add, at the 2023 convention, I overheard my parents streaming the convention and there was a comment about how you shouldn't just marry about fellow JW but you also need to marry someone that is devout enough. I'm 38, never baptised, never been married, never even been in a relationship, and my PIMI parents have been trying to get me to go back to meetings to meet someone...but even if I did that (which I won't), I'd still need to be baptised before I could even court someone. That's a LOT of work to not be lonely anymore.

In one congregation I was in. I was the talk coordinator. We had a public talk, #15. 'Gods view of sex and marriage' was the title. I could never get anyone to give the talk, because 10 minutes was dedicated to the gb bedroom rules. I certainly was not going to give a talk on what two people could, or could not do in their own bedroom. Or why the watchtower corporation condemned masterbation. Anyway, before I found myself excommunicado in 2013. They modified the talk. They took out the bedroom rules. Like Jon said in one of the videos. Watchtower is becoming more liberal to stop the bleeding. Great job Beth. 🙋

Back in the 70's there were a few WT articles that came out dealing with what was termed 'inappropriate behavior' between married couples in their own bedrooms, namely oral sex, which they called porneia which is considered a grave sin. Many ignored the articles and went about their business, but many more had their marriages rocked to the core when one or the other took it seriously and loaded themselves up with guilt, prompting them to go before the elders and confess all the juicy details, not wanting to leave anything out so as not to hide anything. Ask me how I know.. She thoroughly enjoyed oral sex but couldn't handle her guilt feelings. I begged her not to take it to the elders but she was determined and did so on her own. I was humiliated. It was my young and attractive 20 yr old wife totally alone late one evening with three old men, asking her all kinds of questions about our sex life and listening to her sharing all the details. How often, was it every time, was it you or him that initiated it, etc. etc. I could only imagine them lying in bed later that night just thinking about it all. Ironically a few years later, we left the religion and in a complete turn around, she totally let go of all her sexual repression and inhibitions in ways that that would make your head spin. I've learned they've since relaxed their bedroom rules. With all their changes it's not even the same religion. True story.

Hi - in 80s / 90s Germany the rules were not that strict - never had to have a chaperone although wholesome group activities were encouraged to get to know other young people. In the big cities there were (and are) a lot of ‚cool‘ JWs, doing sports, attending gigs and clubbing occasionally. I suspect many found ways to bend the rules. Many however (such as I) would have been so deeply indoctrinated that they could not even contemplate accomodating the rules and ran straight into major problems that made their marriage awkward and stressful - vaginism, anyone? for at least one year after the wedding? Went to the doctor and remember how she looked at me trying to compute how someone at 26 who looked ok and was articulate could come to her with that problem for those reasons. Btw, very glad to have found your channel, your posts have the right lenghth and you speak concisely and without showing off in any way (obvs you don;t need to ..) Keep on doing the good work!

This is *THE* video that needed to be made! I had to leave the group [you probably can guess that means kicked out/DF] where the elders destroyed my family, but I walked out, disassociated, was repulsed by the hypocritical unscriptural activity. And it all stems from the long list of built-in problems you mentioned - a large piece of the problems are deeply rooted in sexual rules/confusion and absolute ignorance - that [I feel] is abusively imposed in the JW youth. Aside from not being taught a damn thing about sex itself, it's ingrained (aka brainwashed) that all matters of sex are DIRTY. Except missionary, 1ce per week. If using it for pro-creation (which most congregations FROWN upon having children ROFL - the layers just get better and better) Even though a woman must listen to her husband (that's a head trip all in itself, how sometimes it applies and sometimes not.) She [my ex] was born and raised. Which means she fully drank the kool aid. I joined the organization through the marriage. *And thank god for that because it would be impossible to navigate the 'dating' scene as a JW. I gave her all the things her dating pool could not. Gave her 3 kids. And - I'll cut the the end - after an 18yr marriage, the elders supported HER and her unscriptural activity in disloyalty - while working against me - and gave her explicit instructions [permission] to erode the marriage. The end of a marriage often takes years so yes I held on but those final years were a living hell. I hope I gave enough info here - the elders are not your friends. They (most of them) get off on meddling into sensitive sexual issues, interfering with marriages. The gastapo/nazis (what I liked to call them) use power, influence and many manipulation tactics to break up families. Great video - so many have difficulty discussing these subjects and identifying the MASSIVE problems, but you took out a huge chunk of it right here!!!

Thank you so much for your insight into the JW Organisation. This situation almost tore our family apart. My youngest sister got involved with a very nice guy and coincidentally my late dad happened to know his mother and also knew that she was a JW.. When my dad asked him about his association with the JW’s he insisted that he wasn’t connected with the organisation at all. Within no time my sister go engaged to him and then suddenly they decided to marry and then the cat was out of the bag….they said that they were getting married under the auspices of the JW Organisation… next thing my dad accused him of being untruthful and a liar. My dad was hoping to walk his only daughter down the aisle. Eventually my dad kicked her out of the house and forbade her future husband to stay away from our house. My family are staunch Pentecostal… No one in our family knew much about the JW’s but knew enough that they denied the deity of Jesus. I could go on and on but finally my dad was diagnosed with terminal cancer and that’s when my brother-in-law came into play… He suddenly came over to the house and insisted he helped my dad with my dad’s various needs. This is when my dad apologised to him and finally told me that my brother in law was a good and decent person ( which he was )..I then reminded him that he was working on his own agenda for scoring points with God and this was his motive and not my dad’s welfare. Cheers Hendry ( following you from Britain)

When he was on the governing body, he describes how JW’s would write in and tell them everything they’d been doing in bed to get clarity on whether or not it was acceptable in Jehovah’s eyes. The reality was that most of the time they didn’t know how to respond and just made it up as they went along. It’s absolutely disgusting that people would be expected to share those sorts of details with anybody else.

Hi, Beth. I love your authenticity, and the way you break things down. But, the things that you mentioned about sex I absolutely agree with especially the chaperoning idea when you're dating in the organization. It's like something out of the 40s or 50s. The things that you mentioned about being The sovereign of your own body is something that's more applicable for those who are actually studying to become a JW. Because things like sex etcetera, or studied before you joined the organization. Climbing the right not to have sex out of marriage is something that a JW agrees to before baptism and they use the scriptures about not to commit fornication which they already know about before they joined and then agree. But if you're part of the organization already, you've essentially agreed not to commit any sexual encounter as a witness and I think it's the organization book that tells you all the things they practice before you join, or before they allow you to join. But after you become a part of this cult... Good luck and trying to have sex out of the marriage, or marrying a person who is not a JW. Because once you join and agree to these kinds of teachings in order to be baptized; you've already put yourself in their yolk of control and repression.. but, no one has the right to control you or your body but you.

It was difficult living with someone not sharing same goals and beliefs that was not spiritual goals. Only reason we both got married was because of Sex so we didn’t get DF but end up getting cheated since she no longer wanted to be stuck in a marriage. At that moment when I decided to leave the org, I dedicated all my life to this org and did my best to follow their rule on marriage but ended in a divorce, even after divorce no one single Witness call me or visit me! I knew this could not be Gods Organization.

thank you greatly for the truth(the real truth, not the mantra lie of the witnesses. when i was a witness i was condemned of being a single mother after i left my babys father who was abusive and unknown to me in the beginning an addict. the elder females would come to my home, check my home to make sure it met their standard of cleanliness, that i had control of my child at home as well as at meetings, then came the next control from them, that as a single mother i was not abusing my child and was not masturbating as well. i was also being followed by they and their men to make sure i was not breaking the rules and control they had. when i made friends with an older woman who had been clinically depressed for her 40 years as a witness. i was soft shunned by other members. my abusive mother made friends with an elder witness her age and spread lies about me that went everywhere in the congregation and other congregations so that wherever i visited i was ignored. also my now 25 year old daughter is bi-racial. not only was my mother racist but the congregation members while each denying -actions speak loudly. there was child sex abuse being practiced for generations. as soon as i saw the bullying, sex abuse of women and children i never left her alone with any church members, especially men. i was constantly criticized for raising my precious daughter as the gift Jesus showed all who believed His words and actions. i asked too many questions and would not obey the control and brainwashing. i secretly planned the escape of my daughter and myself. i was very careful not to tell my mother or sister or anyone in the congregations anywhere because either of these would have ratted on me making an escape dangerous. i simply behaved as normally but was not believed, because nothing was obvious to them i was able to silently escape. my mother and sister continued to be watchful but could not believe i could escape because i had experienced the same abuse as was the norm in the witnesses. i am most grateful to Jesus for giving me the strength to leave and allow those He sent to free my daughter and myself from both. there were those sent in the congregation to befriend me so that they could continue their control. so dangerous was my so called mother who said i needed to get out of the organization and behind that was encouraging her friend to report me to the elders knowing full well what punishment i would face, making her happy. i no longer go to any religion as the word of God itself is clear that all religions are man made and not of God, are human traditions. i have also witnessed at some of the meetings 2 things--women being beaten by their witness husbands and non witness men, going to meetings, being surrounded by women who gleefully encouraged them to continue to take abuse because they were bringing glory to jehovah. i then witnessed the bullying and sexual abuse of girls who when reporting it to the elders, were subjected to extensive detailed interrogations that traumatized them even further. then they were told they had caused it all and now must be shunned for their sin while the abuser was never disciplined and always turned their own evil to the victim to discredit them. sound familiar, i am sure. please wake up out there, have courage i know you will have when you see the truth, lies and manipulations behind this cult. remember the words of Jesus himself--the truth shall set you free. i know that from personal life experience. please be careful while in it and if you decide to break free. with much love to you..

Coworker from the 70's drank the JW Kool aide, for years he often suggested I go to their meetings, as soon they were of age his kids bailed, unmarried daughter got tattoos & got pregnant. He moved three states away then about seven years ago he stopped e-mailing, didn't reply to messages. Questioning if still alive I searched and found he had been arrested, seen his mugshot, from what I found he went across state lines to meet (what he thought) underage for sex. Oddly everything on the internet has been scrubbed not only the charges but it's as if he never existed.

You are free to have sex outside of marriage the same as you are free to lie, steal, or kill. But when you get punished, disrespected, divorced, or get an STD for doing any of this don't complain. p.s. I am not a JW

7:54 As a pimo introvert, everytime they bring up this topic let alone "dating", I always thought whats the point of dating anyways (As a 22 year old) since two reasons: 1.) Never any people my age because there are so many old people in every corner when being told to "marry in the lord (Just Jws)" 2.)Makes me rather to more and more introverted and lonely ever to avoid "association" from them when they tell me to "make friends and marry a fellow believer"

Becoming engaged is a serious matter, break it off and you will be looked down upon. Or try to divorce and you will be sitting in front of a committee. I am a baptized 54 yr old not currently active publisher.

Hey I was JW many moons ago…….and of course I got married when I was 18 because it was the only way we could have sex……Howewer….. are you implying that JW couples can only have sex in the missionary position? I know that was severely implied back in the 80s (I think) and after a while they sort off stopped talking about the subject and also strongly then implied that it was a matter of “conscience “. Are you saying that Watchtower is again implying that only missionary sex is ok among married witnesses. Thanks for the work you do. 🤔🇨🇺🇺🇸

How old were you when you were pushed through the embarrassment of ‘the youth book’ or ‘young people ask’. I was about 10. I was mortified and very confused.

Just about everything said in this video explains my path to insanity with no answers. Almost getting emotional because of how true this all is. It took me getting DF to finally wake up, get answers and build a healthy sex life. I'll always be upset for missing the girlfriends I could've had that could've been my perfect wife but had to give them up because some guys said so.

Never religious person here. Help me understand, especially in a 'religion' where only a select few make it into the highest level of the afterlife (yay), why is there such a need for control? Why wouldn't the founders just say "Do these things and you're in...otherwise too bad for you!"?

They became a micromanaging cult because during the 20th century, the Governing Body believed the religion as “The Truth” and they have the right to micromanage the members. Which led to Crisis of Conscience book by former GB, Raymond Franz

I wish I had access to that kind of content back in the days, that is 20 ya. But there wasnt any testimony of any kind on the internet back then. They broke me "from the crib", and now the 36 yo woman I am is still broken. Thank you for sharing this and creating a communitity support thru ur videos, you might be saving more lives than you think; BTW, does anyone here knows any shrink specialized in ex jehovah's, based in Paris or France ?

So true! I went through the chaperoning BS! I still resent that shit. I feel it is nobody’s business what spouses do in the bedroom. My husband and I did not follow all the repressive bedroom rules and I have a strong suspicion that many others didn’t either.
