Former Jehovah's Witnesses discussing personal experiences about what they know about the practices and policies of the Watchtower, Bible & Tract Society.
No matter how much we may try to stay connected to our family and friends, at some point in life if we want to attain any level of happiness, we need to be willing to let go. There is a whole world of opportunities to meet new people and find a new clientele of friends. People that will accept us unconditionally and appreciate our friendship.
It may not be easy at first because it is difficult to make new friends especially when you get older. However, the world is a much different place for ex-Jehovah’s Witnesses than it was back in the 1970’s when individuals didn’t have any resources.
You can always find different interest groups on Meetup.com. Try looking for a local Toastmaster’s International chapter in your area. And you can even go take a few courses at your local community college.

Being alone is a blessing: because of the shunning I've been enjoying myself and my life. It took many years to be at peace to be ok by myself.

Good advice. There are a couple of people I really do miss from the KH but I realize that I have to cut these conditional friends out of my life. Since I have left I have made some wonderful friends. They tell me how much they love me and all I can think is, they love me for me, not my publisher's card and meeting attendance. Just like my husband; he fell in love with me for the person I am. And that makes me feel better about myself.

Many thanks! Yes, losing friends is very hard. But, if they allowed you back in the presence today, what would be the essence of your conversation? Everything about our old friends was all scripted. Such a pity and a shame. Hang in there!

Excellent post this is so very true!!! There truly is a whole new exciting world out there waiting for an ex JW. No need to feel sad too long because believe it or not the so-called worldly people are more friendly and genuine then the friends at the congregation. At least this has proved to be true in my situation. Keep up the excellent work Lady Cee.

Thanks Lady Cee for this timely advice... The Regional Convention this year really emphasized shunning and the need to shun the way the GB wants it done... The organization has added more folks to the "do not talk to" list persay... I consider myself "old school" was DF'd in 1988... Dealing with shunning has become my norm you know... Perfect advice for the new ones being shunned... Go ahead and let THEM go because above all else JW's will be loyal to the organization if they are truly indoctrinated... That's a hard pill to swallow it truly is... Especially if you're being shunned by a close family member... That pain can almost take your breath away... But I always remember why I'm never going to return... It's simply NOT the truth... The WTBTS isn't even a decent religion... They are a controlling doomsday cult... I was unfortunately raised in it like so many others who weren't given a choice... Thank You so much for your activism❤

Thanks for sharing your story! Shunning has to be one of the most cruelest of all things a person can do to another human being. It is not loving at all. I'm most happy that you realize it is not the truth and will not return to the organization. If nothing else, you have your freedom to think and do as you please. Concentrate on enjoying the rest of your life and not being under the fear, obligation and guilt that we lived with being part of this organization. I'm truly enjoying my freedom of expression on my channel. Thanks for your feedback, it's most appreciated!!!

Sounds like "shunning" is simply a control method they use to prevent dissenting opinions of the faith from taking hold. Keeps THEM in in charge of your faith instead of you. I wonder how they'd react to someone with iron clad self-confidence who could resist the shunning process and still push their point of view until eventually someone else catches on.

My JW "friend" has shunned me ever since I told her I don't want to be a JW. She doesn't have a biological family. I do, and they are Catholic. What she is imposing would consequently require me to shun my own family. NOT HAPPENING!

Many times I was told to pray for faith. All the time I spent reading, studying and meditating on the scriptures/publications, I was brain washing self and I didn't know it. I advise witnesses not to abruptly leave the organization, but privately start to reset their mind. Just knowing it's not the truth may not be enough. The witnesses live in a different world and have a totally different sense of reality.

Excellent advice! I think one of the biggest things that most of us experience is the amount of freedom we have after leaving. Many times I just cannot believe that I allowed my mind to be so closed and refused to read material that was forbidden by the organization. To allow someone to tell me what to do and not question it. And to accept what is being spoken from a magazine article and I've never met the person that wrote it nor thought to inquire as to the validity of the statements being made. And to think someone sold us this bull#Y6t on our doorstep. Go figure!!!

Lady Cee and JT I really enjoy your videos. You have a very positive outlook on life although I can’t imagine how difficult it was to have to separate from your families and “so called friends” from the Kingdom Hall. I am not a Witness and never baptized thank goodness but studied off and on for years and learned a lot of things of what goes on through Kingdom Halls. I stopped studying completely a few years back because I accidentally stumbled onto apostate videos on KZbin videos and I mean literally stumbled onto apostate videos because I was intending to go to Jw.org but I worded it as something like Jehovah’s witnesses or the Watchtower I can’t remember exactly what I said but what I got was Watch the tower instead lol 😆 Anyway, I decided to watch them and figured out it was apostate videos. At first I was thinking 🤔 should I watch it because it was “wrong” or I have been told so, so I decided to tell my study what I discovered and she told me I need to look into JW. ORG the other websites are false, of course they would think that way but my curiosity killed the cat sort of speak so I decided to check out those “false websites” and low and behold a load of stories have come out and I was horrified of hearing about them and what really goes on in the Kingdom Halls although thinking some 20-30 years back there was things going on back then too. The child abuse ones were the worst ones though to hear and I thought I don’t want to be apart of that. It’s very disturbing!

Never being a jw but being married to a jw for as long as I have and then coming to realize how little I really knew about the jw mindset made me look at my wife and ither jw family in a while different way. So much that confused me all of the sudden made aence. I had to reinterpret all of my experiences with them because I then realized that the really saw me as someone less than them in all kinds of ways. I became very distrustful of them all. The pain was raw and traumatizing. Telling them things that Ice discovered only made things worst because now I wasn't just someone who thought the religion wasn't for me, now I became an opposed to be avoided and boy am I. So I decided to do the same thing. I distanced myself from all of them but it's obviously made things difficult at home with my lovely wife. I had no choice anything else was too painful to bare...

You are right in your observation. My husband, never a JW, did not fully understand the JW religion. He said he knew they were wrong but since being married to me, he has a whole different view and understanding of the way the JW's believe and act toward people that are considered "worldly". I was researching my way out when I married him and now I'm fully awake. He and I have done endless hours of reading and researching the history, teachings, and the failed prophecies of the WT Society. We both see the arrogance and self-righteousness of JW's. He said he sees now that when a JW prays for the "new system" they are praying for the death of his children and grandchildren.....anyone not a JW because they believe that only JW's will survive Armageddon.

Sadly, "be peaceable with all men" or "love your neighbor" doesn't resonate with JWs. You are 'lesser'. A parable among many parables ... JWs are the Pharisee. Thanking God for not being a sinner like you, you worldly nothing. Luke 18:11-14 NET The Pharisee stood and prayed about himself like this: 'God, I thank you that I am not like other people: extortionists, unrighteous people, adulterers-or even like this tax collector. [12] I fast twice a week; I give a tenth of everything I get.' [13] The tax collector, however, stood far off and would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, 'God, be merciful to me, sinner that I am!' [14] I tell you that this man went down to his home justified rather than the Pharisee. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted."

That may be true with some, but not all. I certainly wasn't like that. Probably because I was raised differently. The "be peaceable with all men" was one of my favorite verses and tried to live by it. All these years I never knew that's how many of them thought. The few ones I did associate with actually helped me learn to pray for others and I always prayed for non jw's, thinking that just MAYbe there were ones out there who WOULD make it.

Michael I too am not a JW that is married to one and went down a similar path. married my wife while she was disfellowshipped so religion was never a thing until after we got married. she rarely attends meetings as of late and I can tell if anyone from the hall comes by to talk to her and drop off watchtower literature they are blaming me for her absence and looking down at me for it while acting superficially nice around me.

Ok now that I have broken away from the cult. My desire is to be shunned because I don't want anything to do with anyone. I've deleted every JW on my friends list, I've written a letter telling them I've disassociated myself ( though I've never been baptized), I won't answer their calls, and I've even told the elder that came to my house uninvited that wanted nothing more to do with them or religion. But people are still calling me and inboxing me, trying to get me to come back. Not going to happen. I'm so trying to keep my peace but if they don't stop I'm going to start presenting them with the ttatt! I'm trying to be respectful!

Excellent and factual information. Very truthful video. For Paul Daniels: It seems that you do not listen to the video. The things you mention are very applicable to the wt, especially bringing you another doctrine. That is what the wt does, bring you another doctrine except they call it new light. Paul think for yourself! According to jw.org -July 2013 study edition- Christ did not return, it will be a future event? Then miraculously pages later and subsequent issues of wt magazine Christ did return in 1914-1919. Talk about bringing another doctrine! Lady Cee thank you for being sincere. Maybe Paul Daniels will critically think about the "spiritual food" he is eating?

This is so true and an excellent point. Personally when I was 19 I started casually dating a 'worldly' boy for a few months because I was so lonely and did not have many friends and there were no JW boys that I liked or clicked with for years. I obviously felt guilty because my head was still JW and I was still going to all meetings and field service. ONe day I wanted to sort myself out and get back to being a hardcore JW in my actions, so I told him I would not be able to hang around with him anymore and if I did see him around it would just be as friends. I told him I was going back to JWs! He gave me some information on JWs written and printed out by a so-called JW who he knew, but because I was so worried about apostates I ripped it up on the spot without even looking at it. He was really miffed and upset by that. But in my mind I was showing my allegiance to Jehovah, showing him where I stood and who I would publicly pick if it came to it. When he told me it wasn't anything bad, I had a cursory look at it and indeed, it was not denouncing JWs, however it wasn't the company thought line so I felt it could be dangerous. I knew he wasnt a 'real' witness he was one of those weird ones who have their own thoughts and take on the beliefs. We have to be so careful when approaching loved ones with the real Truth. They can be very sneaky! Err on the side of LOVE and CARE and calmness.

This is so timely. I am 4th generation and have been fading for years. My father, who was 3rd generation, passed away this year and I decided to do some research to see if I wanted to go back. Well you can imagine what Google turned up for me. JWStruggle was my first enlightenment, then it just snowballed. I have to thank everyone for the videos and the books I've read. I ordered Bo Juel's book. I read more than half of it in one night at work. In the morning I posted a comment on his FB page. (We aren't "friends") I told him I liked his book and that I was now awake. That night I got a text from one of my sisters asking me if I thought I was raised in a cult. My comment had shown up on her feed. I have since unfriended all 3 of my Witness sisters and any others I was friends with. I also blocked them so they can't monitor what I do. I did tell my sister I couldn't support or defend a religion that allows pedophiles to remain in the congregation without informing the police. She said that they used to handle it within the congregation but now if there is even a hint of abuse they contact the "authorities". What she doesn't know is the "authorities" are those in the legal department of the Watchtower. She said she wishes that if someone wants to leave Jehovah why do they feel the need to blame someone else. They should just say, "I want to live my life and not be accountable to my creator" and just go live their life. I asked what happens if that's what I say and she said "I guess you go live your life". So that's what I'm going to do. Thank you Lady Cee.

WOW!!! You are most welcome and thanks a bunch for sharing your experience. So sorry for the loss of your father. And now your sisters due to their continued involvement in the cult. Glad to hear you are getting some closure in your life. The best thing is educating yourself about where you have been in this organization. Smart idea to not only unfriend but to block folks on Facebook. That is a sure fire way to keep them from seeing your posts. You are definitely on the right track. Hang in there; you've come a long way and will no doubt do well in all of your endeavors. Hugs, ~Lady Cee

Thanks for the hugs. I do have one more sister who was DF'd years ago and she and I have a great relationship. I refused to shun her. We have gone on vacations together, that my family knew about, and nothing was ever said or done to me. I guess since I have been fading for so long and didn't claim to be "a witness" they left me alone. But after reading "apostate" literature, I guess I will see if they call or come knocking.

great advice .many of us are just hanging in for family hopeing to wake them up.but the bottom line is eventualy the truth will out ..

All we can do is hope and pray that our family will eventually see the light. I've always said that they use the Watchtower like a Rabbit's foot. It's like all of the lies they tell are superstitious and if people think there is some truth to their tale of Armageddon, they feel obliged to remain in the organization for fear that if what they are being told is actually the truth, they will certainly perish.

🎺🎺MY KINGDOM MINISTRY FOR MY GOD JEHOVAH AND JESUS CHRIST🎺🎺 I know Jehovah witnesses have been taught a lie that heaven is meant for a 144,000 people... but the only place that there's a specific number mentioned of those who go to heaven is in Revelation and it gives a number of 144000 to go to heaven for specific purpose to be Kings and priests for a 1000 years(but notice 1st Corinthians comes before revelation we read the Bible from front to back not Back to front)... JW's have been taught 1st Corinthians is only addressed to the 144,000(or the annointed) but notice in 1st Corinthians 1 who Paul is directing this letter to 1st Corinthians 1:2 to the congregation of God that is in Corinth, to you who have been sanctified in union with Christ Jesus, called to be holy ones, together with all those everywhere who are calling on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ..(we know the holy ones are the annoited but he also added in, "together with all those everywhere who are calling on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ" so this is for everybody who calls on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, this is who this letter is addressed to skip to 1st Corinthians 6:10 thieves, greedy people, drunkards, revilers, and extortioners WILL NOT INHERIT GOD’S KINGDOM(all servants of Jehovah will inherit God's Kingdom, that's our goal to get into that Kingdom) skip ahead to 1st Corinthians 15:44 It is sown a physical body; it is raised up a spiritual body. If there is a physical body, there is also a spiritual one(the scripture says if there is a physical body there is a spiritual one that is a definite) 1st Corinthians 15 However, what is spiritual is not first. What is physical is first, and afterward what is spiritual. 47 The first man is from the earth and made of dust; the second man is from heaven(it says that our first life is from the earth, our second life is from heaven, although we will still inherit the Earth because the Bible says that but just like Jesus could transfigure a spiritual body on the mountain, as a perfect person, showing us that it can be done as a perfect person, we will also be able to form a spiritual body once we have perfected our physical bodies...have you ever thought about what the tree of life was supposed to do for Adam and Eve? We could have lived forever without ever eating from the tree of Life. Jehovah God said the only reason why Adam and eve died is because they ate from the tree of knowledge (what was the tree of life supposed to accomplish?) JEHOVAH tells us: Genesis 3:22 Jehovah God then said: “Here the man has become like one of us in knowing good and bad. Now in order that he may not put his hand out and take fruit also from the tree of life and eat and live forever(THE REAL LIFE is ACTUALLY the SPIRITUAL LIFE, that's how we become TRULY ALIVE) skip ahead to 1Corinthians 15 And just as we have borne the image of the one made of dust, we will bear also the image of the heavenly one. 50 But I tell you this, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit God’s Kingdom,(now remember we're supposed to inherit God's kingdom but the Bible says FLESH AND BLOOD CAN NOT INHERIT GOD'S KINGDOM so that right there tells you you're going to get a spiritual body in order to inherit God's Kingdom (because we know Jehovah can't lie(Titus1:2) because there will be more trees of life in the recreation(Mt 19:28; Re 22:14) Skip ahead to Revelation now.. Revelation 7 After this I saw, and look! a great crowd, which no man was able to number, out of all nations and tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, dressed in white robes; and there were palm branches in their hands. 10 And they keep shouting with a loud voice, saying: “Salvation we owe to our God, who is seated on the throne, and to the Lamb.(remember when Jesus transfigured himself on the mountain he was in a "white robe"(we know a lot of Revelation is symbolic) Revelation 7:14 These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and THEY HAVE WASHED THEIR ROBES and MADE THEM WHITE in the blood of the Lamb(KEEP THIS SCRIPTURE IN MIND) Revelation 21:10 So he carried me away in the power of the spirit to a great and lofty mountain, and he showed me the holy city Jerusalem coming down out of heaven from God...It had a great and lofty wall and had 12 gates with 12 angels at the gates, and on the gates were inscribed the names of the 12 tribes of the sons of Israel. 13 On the east were three gates, and on the north three gates, and on the south three gates, and on the west three gates.(notice where the city and the gates are, they are in heaven, actually earth is just supposed to be God's garden, the city is in heaven) Revelation 22:14 Happy are those who wash their robes, so that they may have authority to go to the trees of life and that they may gain entrance into the city through its gates..( notice Who gains access to the city (heaven) and it's gates(the entrance to heaven), THOSE WHO WASHED THEIR ROBES.(Re 7:14) We know those who did that came out of the great tribulation. During one of the drama movies in the assembly(Summer of 2020 Friday session) she pointed out to her student(Jade, Like Jaded) that there is no hunger, death, or pain in heaven...but we know Jesus actually hungered, felt pain and could be killed on Earth and he was perfect flesh and blood, so in order for the people on the Earth to be able to not hunger or die we would have to obtain spiritual bodies because only in heaven do they not hunger die or feel pain... Jesus was are roadmap, he was born, he was baptized, he died, but then he came back as spiritual creature and made himself known or let himself be seen to those he wanted... because also remember Jesus says in the resurrection we are as Angels (Angels are spiritual creatures) Matthew 22 In reply Jesus said to them: “You are mistaken, because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God; 30 for in the resurrection neither do men marry nor are women given in marriage, but they are as angels in heaven Regarding the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was spoken to you by God, who said: 32 ‘I am the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob’? He is the God, not of the dead, but of the living( You know Jesus can't lie and faithful servants of Jehovah and followers of Jesus Christ are supposed to be resurrected if we die, just as Jesus came back as the Angels are(in the spiritual form) after he was put to death, all baptized Christians will come back as the Angels are and if they are not baptized they'll be resurrected after the 1000 years had ended because the Bible also says in Revelation that not everybody's gets resurrected during the first resurrection, there are some that come to life after the thousand years where ended Revelation 20 And they came to life and ruled as kings with the Christ for 1,000 years. 5 (THE REST OF THE DEAD DID NOT COME TO LIFE UNTIL THE 1,000 YEARS WERE ENDED.) Matthew 5:8 Happy are the pure in heart, since they will see God.(Jesus already told us servants of Jehovah will actually see God and Jesus can't lie just like Jehovah can't tell a lie and the Bible is God's word) ❤️❤️Galatians 5 On the other hand, the fruitage of the spirit is LOVE, JOY, PEACE, PATIENCE, KINDNESS, GOODNESS, FAITH, 23 MILDNESS, SELF-CONTROL. Against such things there is NO LAW❤️❤️ Psalms 19:8 🔔The orders from Jehovah are righteous, causing the heart to rejoice; The commandment of Jehovah is clean, making the eyes shine.🔔 💡James 4:12💡 12There is only one who is Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and to destroy. But you, who are you to be judging your neighbor? Isaiah 2:22 🙏For your own sakes, quit trusting in mere man,Who is only the breath in his nostrils. Why should he be taken into account?🙏
