As a white former JW for 55 years, I really appreciate your insight as black men; seeing what is happening in the congregations. After 9 years leaving a congregation in the west Detroit suburbs, I decided to return to visit my old Kingdom Hall. When I left in 2014; the congregation was @ 75% white, 25% black. And we had so much fun; blacks and whites together in the ministry and gatherings. Had several Indian immigrants as well who formed a Hindi language group. But coming back in 2023, the ratios were completely flipped! Now there was 90% black; many of my old friends were still there; but only about 10% whites! I've wondered where they all went, but have some suspicions that like me; they had begun to perceive the hypocrisy, the creature worship of the GB; and the dumbing down of the Kingdom message and meeting topics to an elementary level. I haven't been able to locate some of the white brothers I had been close to yet; and plan on reaching out to them when I can find them on internet search directories. And like you say JT; it seems to be a cultural thing that blacks are a more spiritual group overall; they are the life of congregations and in my opinion; the warmest race on earth. But they do seem to be more gullible, credulous, and ready to believe an authority figure without scrutinizing or questioning the basis for that authorities rules and directions. I miss my black compadres working in the electrical engineering dept. of the RBC, and my old black Bethel room mates who brought so much fun and spirit into the years of service that I donated. I pray Jehovah will incite more black women and men to wake up their brothers and sisters who are still captive to what has now become, a cult.

We have to realize that we didn’t have to accept their teachings. I was a member of the JW, but, I never accepted that these guys who were participating of the symbols of the blood( the wine ) and the ( bread), were really anointed. I knew some of them personally and no way, they could be anointed individuals. I went to college two evenings a week, had a job , took care of my husband, two children, yet I hardly ever missed a meeting at the Kingdom Hall. Ah, I also conducted bible studies. I was a big load to carry, but I was strengthening my knowledge in many ways and also my faith in Jehovah. Yet, the brothers wanted for me to be a full time pioneer. I was criticized for getting pregnant. I told them get to my husband; he was the one who wanted another child not me. I wanted to move because, I had been robbed twice in my building ( both guys had knives ), yet the elders assured me that Armageddon could happen at any moment. Their reasoning was that my duty was to stay put, because the weekly bible study was at my house. They caused me pressure by asking me if I had no faith and trust in Jehovah, for the end could be just 6 months away. The Watchtower uses the fear of the end of things constantly. This is a way of controlling the individuals, by fear. I realized that we were being controlled. Studying several courses in psychology at the university, opened my eyes. They were using techniques used for brain washing. I was shocked to realize that all the techniques were used by the Watchtower. So, I moved upstate New York, when I graduated from college. I happened to move near their farm upstate. Here I met many Bethelites. I learn the truth of what goes on the lives of these young people that give their lives to serve the Watchtower. The truth is that they are exploited by the Watchtower. It is shamefull! I wish their parents stop being fanatics and get them out of there.
