As a young newly married woman in the organization, I was caught by surprise by an elder approaching me after the meeting and asking me ( suggesting), " I suppose ****** ( my husband ), is active in bed. This took me by surprise. I haven't been a wild woman in the world. How should I know? Do they read dirty books to be in the know. I should have asked, " What do you mean?," but I was to surprised. This elder just knocked another brick out of their wall. How dare he ask me such a question without my husband being present. I must have been his target. I don' go there any more, neither does my husband. It is all SICK.

Remember the concluding talk at District and Circuit Assemblies when the speaker would say, “I know some of you people have a guilty conscience do to immortality. Please talk to an elder so that you can get your life straight with Jehovah.” Or some bullshit similar to that. They would always lay a guilt trip on the publishers trying to get them to turn themselves in to the elders. And shortly afterwards there would be a rash of disfellowshippings. Damn, I’m glad that I am out of that cult!

I’ve been out of the Org for over 30 years … I recall as a youth hearing a talk at the convention in which the speaker said something to the effect of “brothers stop writing the Society and describing your private sexual activities to get approval”. I just thought it was so ridiculous that people couldn’t use their own God-given conscience to determine what is right for their personal lives. I wasn’t born in … I feel like I willingly joined for about 10 years, and I willingly left when I felt that the JW lifestyle was “limiting” and not “wholesome”. Throughout those 10 years I maintained my “critical thinking” skills.

Even when I was a young teenager in the 80s I wondered why the only thing people got disfellowshipped for was sexual immorality when there is a long list of gross sins. Example: gossip and slander can be very damaging yet I don't know 1 person who has been disciplined for it. Yet a couple who touch each other before marriage- how much damage is done? Why do we care so excessively? A lot of those raised as JWs have shame issues because of the prevailing mentality.

I found myself nodding in agreement to many things you said. You and I are of the same age, and so were teens in the cult at the same time. Thus our experiences are similar. Unfortunately, I never really got over the repression and when I left, at age 24, knew absolutely NOTHING about women. I was like Steve Rogers in the car with agent Carter when she tells him, you don't know how to talk to women, do you? Yep, that was me....I was never able to hold a relationship with a woman. Now I'm 55, alone, but I've accepted it and moved on with my life while using my "freedom" to travel and do things I probably could not do if I was in a long term relationship. And that does not include sex....haven't had it since 2009. Know what? I'm ok with it. I'd love to do it once in a while, but if not, I can live with that. But I know who is responsible: Watchtower and their horrible sexual repression.

Omg this is my first time on your channel. “Spiritual paradise” is what got me sucked into the cult. You are right that the GB is obsessed with 2 main things - false religion & sex. While still in , I was privately reproved for an act of porneia known as “unclean behaviour” (kissing and fondling of the breasts) - a brother came to my apartment and things happened long story. He told on us to the elders. At the judicial committee they even wanted to know if I had an orgasm. I was a 23/24 year old virgin at the time so didn’t even know if I had one. I was also raised as another type of Christian so all things above the waist premaritally was kind of acceptable (if you’re dating) to that particular sect. Later on I found out that oral sex and any sex position other than “missionary” is prohibited even for married couples. Needless to say my view of sex became distorted & I never wanted to get married to a “brother” after that and secretly dated “worldly” guys a couple of times , who never accepted sexless dating so I was fighting a losing battle. But the thrill of being desired by them vs a JW guy was very powerful. PS - Love your channel and I subscribed right away Edit: I was an unbaptised publisher at the time. When I was asked the detailed questions I panicked and answered everything because I felt it was the “Holy Spirit” leading them to ask me such questions only to find out recently about the secret elder’s manual that dictates this. Crazy!

Thank you so much and it's always comforting to know I'm not alone! This subject is so loaded, but your experience is SO common....I got in trouble as a youth too and then as an elder had to deal with kids getting in trouble. Ah yes, 'momentary touching of the breasts'....uncleanness.....and this week.....I'm going to delicately handle the ridiculous commentary around oral sex! I say often that this religion is deeply damaging to women...on matters of dating, marriage, self esteem, etc. It's awful. And good for you for taking those dates....as someone that left in 2009, I had to navigate dating as an adult as well......it was scary, then FUN!

First off, in true sarcasm, if Jehovah is watching everything doesn’t that make him one and the same as Santa? I mean, Santa knows if you’ve been bad or good. I’m just sayin, it’s all about where we personally place our trusts and beliefs. Additionally, I personally have had my non existent balls nailed to the wall regarding sex by the elders. The joke’s on them, my now husband and I were only engaged at the time and out in service with our friends. They stayed at a return visit extra long and we had our way. They just laughed when they got back to the car. Who do the JW’S think they are?! They have no right to attempt to instill fear nor control contact with consenting others. For some reason the one that really sticks with me in particular is the letter from a physically disabled JW husband who wrote to Brooklyn begging them for some sort of loophole in Jehovah’s law that would allow him to still be able to be intimate with his wife, because “normal” sex was impossible for him and he felt like “half a man.” Because the Guys In New York™️ and their crackdown had seriously effected his and his wife’s sex life. I was off in theology and gnostic philosophy when I found 3 criteria that were where the red flags hide. Treatment of Women. Sex being broad i narrowed it to suffering/pain of innocents. Whether you paid for the sexual intercourse or someone else did, the act is still called "porneia". The above definition is the only valid definition for said word, any other definition is given by malicious persons in an attempt to control you.
