Jeje's Story of Hope

Jeje was rescued from the illegal wildlife trade by authorities in partnership with The Aspinall Foundation. Jeje was one of the youngest infants to arrive at JGI's Tchimpounga sanctuary in Republic of the Congo, so caregivers were extra careful tending to him. After Jeje recovered from the trauma he suffered, he was soon able to be integrated with other chimpanzees his age. Jeje is beloved by all of his friends and caregivers, and today he lives happily on Ngombe Island, one of the Tchimpounga sanctuary's three islands.
