When Joel killed him, it wasn’t personal, again, he was the one thing that stood in between Joel and his surrogate daughter and from a storytelling perspective I can’t overlook that because I spent an entire game learning to love and understand Joel for all his flaws. People tend to ignore that the fireflies does nothing to calm Joel, they arrive almost dead, and they literally doesn't give Joel time to say goodbye, they don't show the payment they don't say anything, they don't explain things to Ellie, from the point of view of Joel they treated him and Ellie as objects, literally, couldn't they have waited 1 day to perform a surgery that was so important, also their cause was just one plan, their goal was to create a better world but they dissolved when the cure wasn't ready, really they couldn't train another scientist in the many years the movement was operating, like how hard is it to teach people about a medical degree. And how hard is to train the people Joel killed in that fight, imagine crossing the USA bonding with this girl that at the end is literally his daughter, and the moment you arrive there they treat him like a prisoner and want to kill his girl without any alternative, just like the soldier at the beginning of the game that kills Sara because he had orders.
@im9550 Жыл бұрын
Right? Joel killed the fireflies to save Ellie’s life, just like how the fireflies were going to kill Ellie and Joel to save other peoples lives. We gloss over the fact that technically Ellie didn’t consent to the procedure, we also gloss over the fact that the procedure isn’t guaranteed. They could have killed Ellie for no reason.

Cause it is. Yeah right, it honestly sounds like a bad fan fic. The way Joel acted immediately before his death goes against every bit of sense that anyone with combat and confrontation experience/knowledge would have, regardless of how "peaceful" life is for them.

@@VannywiththeFanny Obviously, but he could have avoided it and he almost definitely would have avoided it had he stayed true to the character that he's been shown to be in the first game (I'm not criticizing the fact that he was killed, it's that his behavior was extremely unlike how he was in the first game, which is why I say he was "nerfed"). He willingly walked down into what is essentially a basement without any weapons, while also letting armed strangers surround him and block the door, and he was pretty much clueless to it all up until the very last moment where he got shot. This is the same Joel who ran over a man asking for help because he recognized it was a set up. That kind of knowledge, experience, and instinct that took 20+ years to develop doesn't "fade away" just because you've lived in a relatively protected village for 4 years (while a zombie apocalypse is still raging on need i remind you, so it isn't exactly as "peaceful" as some argue).

And also that dude clearly looks like he just got ordered out of the sewers he was living in to try and get them lmao. Dude, are you kidding me?....And where where they to go? There's a winter storm first off. Causing zero visibility as we're shown when Ellie loses Dina in it. And not only this, they have horses that won't be able to make the trip back to Jackson so they have to save them. You'd save you dog wouldn't you? And what about the infected horde right behind them as well? Im sure Joel being the superhero you make him out to be could just turn and x-ray vision them down right?😂 And also when they get to that house it's 50 seconds before the job is done. Not really a substantial time to think of what's to come. And just a little detail, if you watch Joel I'm that final scene of his he clearly looks like he's putting the pieces together and realizing,"oh, I've literally walked into my casket". This is why you don't see him arguing a lick. He just takes it, and tells them to, as Bill would say, "GEtOWnWItHIT"
@prefix2533 жыл бұрын
@@VannywiththeFanny Not at all what I'm saying, Joel from the first game would still be suspicious of Abby and her crew because again: they are a group of armed strangers, not to mention that Abby's crew is super close to their base and extremely well armed (the black brothers in the first game -forgot their names- were also seemingly well mannered and of pure intentions, yet Joel was still suspicious of them for a long while). Joel and anyone who has survived that long in a legitimate zombie apocalypse would know that appearances can be deceiving lmao, Abby looking "clean" and "well mannered" obviously doesn't mean jack shit in that kind of environment, especially when you're a man who has a target on his head. Do you seriously think that after nearly killing a whole firefly base and their leader, that Joel wouldn't suspect the possibility of people coming after him? With that in mind, it makes all the more sense to be extremely suspicious of strangers, especially ones that are so close to his residence while being armed to the teeth. Regardless, I agree Joel n Tommy had to go indoors with them due to the snow storm and zombie horde, I never denied that. However, that still doesn't justify Joel's (and Tommy's) behavior while inside the house. Like I said, based on the previous game, Joel isn't going to just voluntarily walk away from ALL of his weapons and equipment, voluntarily follow armed strangers downstairs into a basement, voluntarily walk into the very middle of said basement and away from all exits and cover, and allow the armed strangers to completely surround him. You mention that only by the very end does Joel connect the dots and get suspicious, which is exactly my point. Had Joel been accurate and consistent to his character that we've seen thus far, he would have been suspicious the whole time and wouldn't have allowed himself to get surrounded in such a helpless situation. I'm not even necessarily saying he would have won the fight, he still might have gotten killed (like you said, he isn't a God), but he definitely would have stayed with his weapons, near the exits, and/or nearby cover, being suspicious of the strangers, thus maximizing any chance of survival from a potential ambush.

And when Joel said his name and everyone got quiet and started staring at Joel he didn’t even do anything he just said “ y’all at like you heard of us or something” and I’m pretty sure Tommy should’ve seen Abby grab the shotgun from Owen or not even that just want everyone stays quiet that should instantly clicked in Joel and tell him his mind something is wrong
