Cyberpunk 2077 - ENDING -SPOILER Johnny Becomes V -V Sacrifices Himself and Gives his Body to Johnny

This is in my opinion a good, bad and sad ending all in one. Johnny Silverhand (Keanu Reeves) takes over V's body. V having found out that he would only live for 6 more months decided to sacrifice himself and give his body to Johnny. V dies in this ending. Johnny Silverhand leaves Night City. Johnny ending.

In my ending Johnny gets Rogue to help as she realises he finally changed. When Johnny says he reached an epiphany and V said no, you reached maturity that was much earlier in the game. Basically yes they are becoming the same but Johnny is progressing on his own. Also V is more turning into Johnny as Hellman explained as the preliminary stage to Johnny taking over.

There's something disturbingly beautiful about this ending to me. Sure, it's sad, but there's something to be said about the fact that V could do what others in Johnny's life couldn't: break Johnny out of his egotistical shell and show Johnny that while you should never stop fighting, if you burn the whole world down, there won't be anything to fight for. Life is worth living. Stop and smell the roses, so to speak. So while the Nomad ending is the most peaceful and beautiful in its own right, even oddly hopeful, this ending carries more emotional weight for me personally since it really is the one that shows how much Johnny's developed as a person and how important V was to Johnny.

Yeah. I think it's not right to expect and demand a happy ending. Good Tech Noir like the Terminator and Blade Runner dont have happy endings and I think it's good that cyberpunk really captures that essence. That essence that the world is a scary place with no easy truths. Johnny had his time; and he got his closure on him if he blew it or not. When Johnny get's V's body he's given a second chance, but he doesn't grant closure to V's friends, he just ghosts them leaving them wondering. This is a terrible ending (for myself) and a prick move for Johnny. I'd argue that Nomad and suicide were better options because at least V's family got closure, they know what happened to V, but with Johnny...they're left on mute, always wondering what happened.

The suicide ending is far worse hitting, and I think perhaps the most gut wrenching and appropriate for the genre, but this one is pretty rough too. Devil ending is perhaps the second worse one after suicide though due to selling your soul for naught and the world getting screwed by Arasaka afterwards.

I dunno. Johnny has already had his chance at a life. He's been around much longer. Even before he "died" he was older than you are currently and he knows this which is why he's so hesitant. As his friend he wants you to live YOUR life. And he knows about you and Panam (If you chose that option). If you do decide to go with Panam he even smiles and says to never quit fighting. There's also the fact that Panam mentions supposed contacts that might be able to help meaning it's possible they find a solution to the 6 months deal. Though if you do go with her it's not clear whether or not the solution actually came through. Misty does mention she took a tarot and it was a very good outcome. Something about lovers chariot and a good life so it's possible they did find a solution. Anyways, long enough message as is but I choose to believe they did indeed find a solution. Lol.

If not be able to come up with one. Besides, giving up is quitters talk. And Panam would not approve of that quitters talk. Lol.

A bittersweet ending, probably the best one in reality. The Story is actually about Johnny Silverhand... not V if you really look at it. Johnny is a rebel, he rages against the biggest corp because he perceives it as the ultimate sellout of humanity, a true evil, while at the same time not understanding all the little people that actually make up a company, the fathers, sons, brothers and sisters. In the end he has matured as a person, he realizes the world is much larger then "night city" and you don't have to stay in one place (there is a good life lesson here) just move on, leave the drama and nonsense behind, become a new you.

I have a strong feeling that this is the "canon" ending, because it is a constant variable, no matter who you choose to call before belly of the beast, inside Mikoshi you can always give your body to Johnny. That being said this is assuming that there is a "Canon" ending, which only CDPR knows. I think this is also quite poetic, V realizes that there's no escaping his worst fears and decides to give johnny a second chance. Sometimes in life we end up causing our own worst fears trying to prevent them. Man this ending hits hard but its definitely the best imo. It does feel very mass effect -ish though but I think the point of it is that sometimes you just have to face the music and realize that some things are just out of our hands. Good job CDPR, you guys gave this game a soul.

To me the other ending where V survives also feels like canon. V becomes what he wanted to become. Johnny does everything he wanted to do in his life. He loses rogue , does his last gig with his friends and takes his vengeance on Adam smasher and Arasaka. Johnny has nothing to live for anymore and would be fine if he sacrificed himself. He also cares for v so it made sense. Unfortunately for V he didn’t get to live longer so he went out with a bang. But his life had ended when dexter deshawn shot him in the head.

This ending is both bittersweet and my favourite. The way I interpret it is that Johnny is going to find a new purpose in life, a new life that V gave him. (In my playthrough at least.) And what makes it sadder is when he said I haven't forgotten a thing. Never will. To me, this means he'll never forget V's sacrifice for him, and how he lost a good friend. But that's my interpretation, I'm sure there are many others out there.

I got emotional when Johnny tries to stop V from sacrificing himself and starts throwing insults at him and get him to stop. It really showed Johnny drop the cool guy act and showed how scared he was for V and the care he really had for him. This was my favorite ending, it shows the heroic yet humble nature of V in my play through and Johnny got a chance to be a changed man and live selflessly the way V “died”.

@@Connor-is3kl complete panam's romance sidequest. Reply to her messages, answer her calls to be on the safe side. And after you meet hanako at embers, you go to vik's. When you take the pills and the gun to the balcony, you talk to misty. Then you'll talk to Johnny on said balcony. Then he'll ask you what you wanna do, and you'll have the option to call panam. When you call her, you need to say "there's something I gotta do today". Ask panam for help, then take the omega blockers. Then you'll trigger a different ending mission, where you fight through arasaka tower with the aldecaldos. Then after you kill Adam smasher in that mission, you go into mikoshi, talk to johnny, then talk to alt. To trigger the ending you'll need to tell alt "I wanna live out whatever life I've got left." That's how you get the ending.

Here's why I choose this ending. V and Johnny worked together to and grew together. Johnny at the start was a mad man, a dangerous psycho. Sure he was aimed at the right people. But Johnny was NOT a good guy. But, here at the end of the line V knew that the world still needed a hero. It needed someone who would fight and fight and fight. He knew this was bigger than himself, bigger than anything. It was the best option. Johnny had grown into the hero the world needed. And giving that hero a chance to live, a chance to help was the best thing V could do for the world.

I love how Misty's cards gives her a sign that something has happened but she's unsure what. For V to up and leave town (again) and put those he cared on the back burner seemed strange from their perspective, but she had an odd feeling based on the drawing. I think the worst part of this to me, is the fact that Johnny has to live with the fact that V sacrifices it all for him in the end. Knowing that and having to live in V’s body, see V’s face every time you look in the mirror, hear V’s voice every time he speaks.... that has to kill Johnny inside after all they went through together

I like how Johnny shows his character development and the impact V had on him, with Johnny using his second chance at life not to continue the grand ambitions he started, but to live like a normal person, to help teach others, to really appreciate the incredible gift V gave him. The guy who once nuked a megacorp's HQ to try and kick off a revolution against megacorps now comes to accept the world he lives in and just tries to help people out in little but touching ways. For me personally, this was the best ending to any video game I've ever played. For comparison this affected me more than The Last of Us (1 and 2), RDR (1 and 2), Spiderman (2018), God of War, Hellblade, SOMA, Bioshock: Infinite, and Halo: Reach. I think it hit so hard because I never played a game where I could imprint so much of my own ego into the protag through gameplay and relationship building. Everyone felt real. Consequences revealed themselves through plot or through nuances in conversation. Couple this with the dripping sense of immersion (mileage may vary) and it morphed this game into a 2nd life simulator. CDPR left enough ambiguity in V's life to where I can simply fill those "holes" with my own ideas of who he was. Little did I know, this was actually a very subtle way of me imprinting "myself" into those voids. Where other games asked us to walk 1,000 miles in the shoes of a character you come to understand over time, this game asks me to walk in the shoes of...myself. Like a muted third engram within V's psyche. Carrying the same tools I use in everyday life. Crossing that bridge with Alt created an experience only describable as an ego death. Through my own agency I chose for myself, "V", to sacrifice my life for Johnny to have another chance at life. And the twisted part that drove me to a deep pit of sadness and guilt? I did it because I promised Johnny I would at the Pistus Sophia. That promise was not from my heart. It was a promise made because I didn't want to disappoint him. Seeing the messages Panam, Judy, Jackie's mom, and everyone else felt like chewing glass. Johnny's sense of guilt from V's sacrifice dripped from my screen. Seeing V's grave hollowed my soul. Despite this the most beautiful, yet bittersweet moment was just before Johnny got on the bus. Talking to Steve. "When my grandpa died, I missed him a lot. Now I only miss him sometimes". This video game was the first time I faced my own ego. The first time I really thought about what my own death will be. And how the world will carry on regardless of what I do. Without this game, I wouldn't have taken the deeper interest of philosophy that I have now. And I definitely wouldn't have become more aware of the liberating yet sobering nature of death.

Honestly for me I feel like this is the best ending to Cyberpunk. V and Rogue may have died but at the same time Johnny now has a second chance, and the teen boy scene with him felt like it gave a sense of hope seeing that he may become famous one day. The last time I was so immersed in a game world and it's characters was when I played Mass Effect and that one is still considered as the best game I've ever played. Cyberpunk came pretty close. @@R4Y2k to be honest as a huge Mass Effect fan I prefer Cyberpunk though keep in mind I also prefer Dragon Age, partly because I read the books but mostly because Dragon Age origins lore, characters and story made me fall in love and no DA has been quite as good since though still good. Regardless of your personal favourite you’re right. These are the sort of games that draw you in and make you sometimes forget that the characters are characters at all. Gaming is my favourite medium as let’s you tell stories like this, interacting and forming different types of relationships with characters that you can’t do the same way in most mediums.

Tbh this is the best ending for me. This was all to give Johnny a second chance. V would not live in that body anyway because alt said that the relic has even started transforming his dna. According to my imagination, I doubt there will be a technology that will be able to re alter his dna because that's already overwritten. Moreover V is already dead when he got the bullet. This was to give Johnny a second chance all along. Also, you cannot say V truly dies in this ending. V goes with alt, so even mikoshi is gone V might not truly be gone because alt is best netrunner and V finds a new body just like Johnny and relives.

Hell we have people that have to take medicine just to keep transplanted organs. We have to have something like that. Not only that johnny does not want us to give him the body. V was already a good guy. Johnny died full of regrets fighting the good fight. I think giving Johnny a second chance to try again and live a full life not so hell bent on self righteous destruction is the right choice.

That scene at 1:28 is the highlight of this ending. Johnny is actually crying. He’s scared for what fate awaits V in the AI afterlife and scared that he’s going to possibly lose the one friend who is the closest he has had.

@@ajxx9987 sadly in the context of the story’s logic there would be no way for Johnny to stay in his head without V dying. There could have been an option where johnny has to take control but V will be the one stuck in his head.

The way I see it Johnny was already dead. It was just the chip rewriting V’s brain to make him think he was Johnny so they could have probably just copied his mind and let the relic run it’s course and then some way inserted the copy into Vhonny(V with Johnny’s memories) which would basically bring him back.

This is my favorite ending, and also makes a lot of sense for my Netrunner V to pick. She wants to give Johnny another chance at life, and I don't see the point in going back to a dying body for another 6 months, just to throw it away after sometime. But also as a Netrunner there's a certain appeal in going to live in Cyberspace permanently, she'd probably be a pretty powerful and have a lot to do there, so it might not even really be like dying anyway. It's really cool to see Johnny actually be a decent guy and make the most of his new life, but also cool to think of what V would get up to on the Net. Maybe meet up with Bartmoss (if it turns out he really did Soulkill himself and escape out there) or try to hack a Biotechnica cloning facility and grow themselves a new body and then upload themselves back into the real world, and then maybe go find Johnny and hang out. Hopefully Alt didn't just absorb V's engram like some kinda AI cannibal and that's it.
