Forgive my ignorance, but I absolutely don't understand the scoring in this event. How does the surf distance factor in? Help!?!?

Well, the participants receive points for the distance that they've surfed on the board and the time taken taken to reach the finish line. So, the more the distance they cover on board, the better will be their surfing score. Then in the next part of the event, they have to reach the finish line as fast as they can and depending on their time, they are awarded some points. There was also a mention of 'bonus points' however I couldn't be bothered to pay much attention to it

So the it's the distance "surfed" + ( 30 seconds - time it took to finish) I.e. you surf 10 units and take exactly 30 seconds from launch to finish line your score would be 10 + (30 - 30) = 10 Then the single best score of the 2 runs.

Honestly, Tide is not entirely at fault for the Oceanic's poor performance. Management poured too much resources into hosting the event and gave little attention to the form of their athletes. Tide is the scapegoat for the failings of the higher ups, and dismissing him now only serves to keep the fans calm and to give a terrible image of instability.

I’m not surprised the Wisps sucked here. They’re too heavy for this event. Ah well. They did make their yearly Wisps comeback but it just wasn’t enough as their overall performance has been mired by so many bottom placings. Hopefully they can at least sort of redeem themselves in the next event, it sounds more suited to their abilities.

But that's what happens when you put all your money into building fancy new stadiums to host big events instead of funding grassroots sports to develop future talent.

Thank you for this incredible new events! I hope we'll see the competitors challenge this new record set by the Jungle Jumpers! Congrats to the Indigo Stars for their first medal too. Never too late to perform! This was a dissapointing event for the Green Ducks, but they've been SO consistant so far I can't cry too much, and the Raspberry Racers only did marginally better. Hazers though really showed what they are capable of! The Ducks are one of only three teams in the running for the top position and it's only 2 pts... and honestly I'm quite satisfied with the current three leaders! I hope all three make it to the final podium! Don't give up ducks! #QuackAttack isn't over yet! WOOT!

Despite some messy parts about this event, it highlighted some of the best parts about the underwater race portions. The "deke out" by the Indigo Stars in heat 2 was only possible underwater; you can see the current change the marble's direction. Very cool.
