I prayed to god to give me motivation recently, and then along came you and your family. I think I’m suffering from “political” fatigue and it does my heart good to see your kids playing outside and learning (and actually enjoying it). It’s good to see every day life with no masks and no videos of kids being spoiled rotten or sitting around playing video games. Your family makes me hopeful and makes my heart light! My mother made what you call “poke cake” for many years. I have her original recipe from a newspaper clipping from the 1950’s (Chicago newspaper often had a section with recipes in those days) & they called the cake “poke & pour cake” That is what we always called them when I was growing up. My mother usually made white cake, used strawberry jello & banana pudding & then the cool whip on top. She always used both the pudding & jello & that is what the old time recipe called for. Sometimes she topped with fresh strawberries. I make it also but somehow it’s never as good as moms was. Miss her. Sorry for the long story. 😊💕🙏🏻

Our Sunday was replacing a washer and dryer and doing the laundry that 5 days accumulated. I have decided to praise Jesus for the new appliances instead of giving the devil attention HE really deserves for how and when they broke....lol Cake looked SO yummy. Gosh. My Mom makes a cake similar to this. The only difference is instead of the jello, she uses crushed pineapple/sugar syrup. Layer vanilla pudding, cool whip & top with coconut. 😍 Hope you all had a wonderful day.

I can't remember which video it was on so I am commenting here. I made the Starbuck Banana Bread - it is absolutely wonderful. It replaces my other banana bread recipe. I changed two things in the recipes which are melted butter for the oil and 3/4 cups of sugar instead of 1 1/8 cups.
